Yes, sports fans, the Real Basketball Report was in the house last weekend, November 10-11, at HoopMagic out in the outskirts of downtown Chantilly, Virginia, for the mid-Atlantic adidas Junior Phenom Showcase Camp for 6th-, 7th-, and 8th-graders (with a few 5th-graders trying to hoop, too...).
The above-mentioned baby ballers were the ones who stood out the most amongst the 70-some who balled all weekend.
We all know that the D-M-V is LIKE THAT--and that the region will be in good hands with the guard play of 8th-graders Sasha, Galaisha, and Danielle, as these three were banging each other, and everyone else, out all weekend.
7th-grader Camille got pretty much every rebound when she was on the court; and, 6th-grader Chania was so cute and so sweet, but was so hardcore and so deadly...
Congrats to Top Tier Sports for such a well-run and comprehensive event!

I'm sure it was a good event.

Unfortunately, many of the best of the best were otherwise committed and elsewhere, therefore not in attendance, especially the 8th graders.

Default heard that before

that happens on all levels from kiddie ball to pro, this thing has been advertised for registration since around march I believe everyone really had their opportunity as I don't think back in march everyone had something else going on. its like they keep saying you can't rank who you don't see.

Hopefully, the last time. It matters not how good you are at 13 IT MATTERS MUCH MORE HOW GOOD YOU ARE AT 16.
A number of those listed on IH's list might not pan out later in H.S. usually because other players abilities increase and some do not. I know in my childs case the entire A team was suppose to be ALL THAT. Flip forward 4 years and NO ONE ON THAT TEAM RECEIVED SCHOLLY'S. However two B team players received D-1 scholly's and two others are playing college ball.

Default true

big smoke that's so true and one thing about early accolades it gives you a false since of success and then you can start believing the hype and not stay hungry. some kids don't make lists early and it motivates them. but the flip side is that you could see the greatness in jt & trp at 12 years old. so its all based on potential at that age.

The plus about the lists could be the kids could use them as motivation to work towards the next level its just the parents who get all up in arms because their kid didn't make the list

Default Here we go again

Firstly, this is not a ranking it is a listing of players who performed well at a particular event. It is not an exhaustive list of every player at the age group in this region. There were some very talent players who were not able to attend for various reasons.

I spoke with every kid on that list and not one of them has a pumped up head and their parents aren't tripping either. In fact most of these kids are pretty humble. All the kids that attended love basketball and are very enthusiastic about the game. Some may never make their high school varsity and some may be All-Americans time will only tell.

Maybe things are looking up and the Class of 2012 & 2013 can show the rest of us how to just play and not worry about who is on what list
