Mike Warchol, 35, editor of WashingtonPreps.com passed away this past weekend at his home in Vancouver, WA.

Mike was a close friend who cared greatly about basketball (and football) in this state. His thriving attempts to see the best teams and players this state has to offer really showed his dedication to the site. He leaves behind a wife and 3 kids.

Mike, I'm going to miss our late night IM's battling back and forth about where Kingma will end up, if Bjorkland will make it at Tennessee, can anyone stop Courtney (Vandersloot) and so on. I will miss traveling the state with you and seeing the talent it has to offer.

You will truly be missed.

Is there anything in the local papers on his passing? He was awfully young. My prayers go out to his family.

I'm in total shock. I just noticed this thread.

I have to say, Mike contacted me a few weeks before and I've been waiting to reconnect with him. He did a lot in a short while with prep sports in this state. His enthusiasm for it seemed boundless.

As others have said, he will be missed.
