Hello,

The My Stars basketball organization is seeking talented 13U girls. We are mainly interested in players that can play the 4 & 5 position. However, if a player can play! We are willing to look at them no matter what position they play. If your interested in learning more about our program send me a email. We will be having open gym on the campus of U of H starting this coming sunday (8-19-07) from 4 - 6 P.M. My Stars will be a first class organization! And we will be committed to the parents and players that are selected to join our program for the 2008 season. We will also be playing in various winter leagues to finish out this year.......

Thanks,

Lot's of HS coaches read stuff like this and this is why some are against AAU because they say all teams do is go out and get the best girls and let them play.

I'm not worried about what HS coaches think about AAU... I know for a fact that the AAU has helped HS kids by giving them the opportunity to play year around. I have worked with kids that did not make their school teams... AAU is always a viable option...Its all about the kids having fun and hopefully fine tuning their basketball skills. On a side note, I would not want to have a so called stacked team.... to many problems!!! (LOL)

I understand and I appreciate your input however my comment was based on you saying you want players that can play. I am with you 100% and truly I feel like my kid playing HS was a waste of time. Her first HS coach was a liar and an idiot, well actually both were but I liked the second one. Do you all also have a developmental team? This is where the work comes in. You have teams who wait till kids are in the 10th grade and go out and grab them with lies and deceit and place on their websites as alumni, like they developed them or something. I commend some of the local teams in Houston who managed to stay together throughout the years and the kids just grt better as opposed to those who wouldn't even look out for kids in their organazation. Do you all have a website or do you play just PRIMETIME because I don't recall seeing you. This is why I am the moderator also.

This will be the first year for the My Stars girls basketball team. We are a young team thats building for the future..... We are definitely in the developmental stages... Were excited about finding a few big bodies to go along with the girls that we have regardless of their level of play. No, we do not have a website set up at this time... but its on the to due list...

My thought was a bunch of players would leave the Angels, but not the whole 7th Elite team moving to become MY Stars. Houston Angels now left with only their Select 12U. What's the scoop there? Do we have a rivalry in the making here? Both teams will be 13U next year. It will be interesting to see these two teams play against each other. What do you think Simmie?

2tall,

Did the whole Houston Angels Elite 7th grade team moved? If so, how many more players do you all need? Which winter leagues are you all planning to participate? and when do you all plan on having another evaluation? I want to send some players your way.

Sid the more success you have, the more problems you are going to have. The problem with having these great young teams is that when they go to HS you are going to have folks come and say you don't what you are doing, we are sponsored by so and so and (or) everything is free. You will run into parents who think their kids are better than what they really are and lord, Ricky should be glad he isn't coaching because then people will say it's only about his kid. Just like you have idiot coaches, you have idiot parents but for the most part, the younger ages should be developing more and if a kid ain't playing, they are NOT getting better.

S. Carter,

No, the entire 7th grade based team will not be joining the My Stars organization. As for additional players were looking to get a few big/tall bodies inside. We will be evaluating players over the next couple of months until or roster reaches approximately 10 players. We are not going to hold any so called tryouts. We will try to get into the most competitive winter leagues (undecided which ones at this time). Feel free to send any players and/or parents my information. We are willing to talk with anyone….

Nothing like letting folks know who you are HT. I knew you weren't Ricky or Mike and based on some of Sids comments I believe he is from the NCI days. It's cut throat in Htown, so in many instances either you are in it to brag or develop and again good luck.

JOKE ONLY! Have a good day!;)

So 2tall... are you still out there? What's the scoop?

SCarter,

Something tells me that you already know the answer to your own question. The only player that I can speak for is my daughter BJ. She is officially a My Stars basketball player for the 2007 / 2008 season. I cannot confirm nor deny what players are coming with us. I guess you will have to wait and see. I would hate to give you players names and things change. After all this is AAU basketball and rosters can change abruptly without notice. Hopefully, we will be ready for a tournament or league by the end of September or the first part of October. As for as the coaches are concerned, Coach C. Mac and Coach K. Turner will continue coaching the girls.

Always good to put a person with their screen name. You are doing what you feel is best for your daughter, there is nothing wrong with that. The Angels were a power in the Gulf but folks are too hung up on WINNING. Don't get me wrong, I don't like losing but the kids need to be in the best fit. I don't know what happened, the Angels looked solid to me but it ain't for me to second guess a parent looking out for his kids best interests, believe me, been through it all and wouldn't change a thing.

I love the Houston Angels. Nothing against the organization, but my wife and I are just doing what we think too will be best for our daughter. We were there from when it started and we just think it's time for her to grow more into the sport. BTW this is HC's dad. Mr Turner I really wish My Stars the best. Say hello to Coach K and Coach Clarence and so with the girls.

AC,

Congratulations. I’m glad to hear that you and your family are happy. I told you all along that the “CORE GROUP” should stick together for better or worse. You guys have been friends for a long time. It’s only fair that the kids continue to play together. Good luck to you and the Houston Angels for the upcoming 2008 AAU season.

I am sorry if you misunderstood. We actually have made our decision to look for other option and already spoke to the coach of the team. He came to watch Hannah at the Rice school.
