July 15, 2007 // Washington, D.C.

"Following three days of training camp in Washington, D.C., USA Basketball today announced the official, 12-member 2007 USA U19 World Championship Team roster, which includes five members of the 2006 USA U18 National Team that qualified the U.S. for the 2007 FIBA U19 World Championship. From a pool of 14 finalists, the 2007 USA U19 squad was selected by the USA Basketball Women’s Collegiate Committee, chaired by Sue Donohoe, the NCAA’s vice president of Division I women’s basketball." reports USABasketball.

The official USA U19 roster includes:

Angie Bjorklund (University H.S. / Spokane, Wash.);
Allyssa DeHaan (Michigan State / Grandville, Mich.);
Amy Jaeschke (New Trier H.S. / Wilmette, Ill.);
Jantel Lavender (Cleveland Central Catholic H.S. / Cleveland, Ohio);
Melissa Lechlitner (Notre Dame / Mishawaka, Ind.);
Italee Lucas (Centennial H.S. / Las Vegas, Nev.);
Maya Moore (Collins Hill H.S. / Lawrenceville, Ga.);

For the record...

This USA Women's U19 Worlds team has the TALLEST FRONTLINE (i.e., considering just the forwards and centers) of any USA women's national team to date.

Average Height of their frontline: 6 feet and 4.6 inches

I was kind of surprised that Khadijah RUSHDAN, one of 14 finalists and the leading scorer among guards at the U18 Americas Qualifying last year, was cut from the team, probably in favor of Melissa LECHLITNER.
