Congratulations to YEA on its 57-48 win over Seattle Lady Style in the championship game of the Spring Fling at Auburn Riverside on Sunday.

Coming from the Style side, I don't have stats for YEA or who made All-Tournament for them but Brittany Barrington, Tyshana Burgess and Deborah Anderson made their presence felt as YEA's pressure defense and cohesiveness held the day against a Style team with a lot of talent, but many connections still to make, with six new players in uniform this weekend. YEA threatened to run away at 38-19, but Style battled back and cut it to as few as six late in the game before falling.

Cheyenne Wilson was named All-Tourney first team for Style. Also turning in honors-worthy performances were Janee Lewis, whose 14 points, many in clutch situations, led the way in the title game and Alli Madison, who helped Style get into the championship game with three straight strong efforts in pool play and the semi-final. However, perhaps because of her aggressive play around the basketball, it was Jasmine McCleave who got second team for Style, as, also surprisingly, did Sasha Weber, who averaged just three points per game, but had 12 steals and six blocked shots for the weekend.

With the Spokane Stars (apparently, haven't seen this in writing, just heard some second-hand results) breezing through their own tournament this weekend and Tree of Hope, Northwest Blazers, Seattle Rotary Elite and others yet to see action, looks there will be a lot of intense games along the way among the Washington AAU squads this spring and summer.
