My child is 14 and plays aau. We tried out for several teams in georgia and made every team. Each one of these teams said they were either sponsored by adidas or nike where they are given a certain amount of money to support the organization.

One team after my child made the top 14u team ask me to pay $2,400.00.Another team I had to pay over $1,000.00 in fees This didn't include the bag, uniform( which we had to give back whom now another girl is wearing) and sneakers.

The third team we made had us pay a club fee and we paid for our own tournaments Which was fine. The club fee included aau card $14.00 a uniform and I am guessing gym rental. When the team became inactive due to different reasons I wanted my child to continue to play we didnt even have a aau card on file. To make a long story short all focus was on the older team

Is this how adidas and nike want to be represented by teams that say they are funded by thier company?Nike and adidas need to really investigate these clubs representing them.

Something needs to be done about teams that say they are sponsored by adidas and nike and if your kid makes a team and the parents still have to pay for uniforms, sneakers and tournaments and travel hotels for the child

If a kid is not good enough to make your top team that is being sponsored then that should be explained. But it has become a money maker for these clubs.

Oneonone, you have just brought up a topic that has been argued and discussed for years.

Both Nike and Adidas sponsored teams have kept it a big secret as to how much they get from these organizations. The same can be said for the Nike and Adidas representatives. No one is talking.

I was at the Adidas tournament and noted that most if not all of the players playing in this tournament had Adidas sneakers. This tells me that the least Adidas will do is provide the club teams with sneakers. I'm also pretty sure that Adidas and Nike pay for the gym for the tournaments. So yes, the AAU clubs are making a bundle, while still charging an extraordinary amount of money.

Clubs like the Brooklyn Saints do a lot of fund raising, etc., as they are not sponsored by Adidas or Nike. They are legit, while others charge you and arm and a leg while they are getting money for Adidas or Nike.

I don't buy clubs who have contracts with Adidas or Nike not making a profit. That's absurd. These AAU clubs sign contracts with Adidas, Nike or Reebock. These teams are taken care of.

Ask a lot of these AAU presidents what other jobs they do. They make so much money doing this, there's no need to do anything else.

I would think that Adidas and Nike have different type contracts with different teams. I don't know how much money they give to the AAU clubs, etc. That has been investigated for years and nothing has really come up.

My daughter has played with teams sponsored by Nike and Adidas. Her club AAU fee was never waived. She played for a Nike team, which did not include sneakers. She had to pay "discounted fee" for the sneakers. My guess is only the older teams got free sneakers. When she played for an Adidas club, she got a pair of sneakers. With the fee that I paid, I doubt the sneakers were free.

Also, you best believe that the AAU clubs are looking to land that blue chip prospect. I can tell you with a straight face that certain players don't have to pay. Especially, if other teams are offering that player a free ride as well.

My friend, it's all about money and power. Adidas and Nike give these clubs something. The money is technically suppose to be used to help out players who can't afford to pay the fee. Is if fair to other hard working families? Who knows.
