It is completely understandable Glenn that you all would need to suspend coverage.
As you said in your explanation, your coverage helps THEM... the same THEM.... that makes hundreds of thousands of dollars every year putting on events like this....
Not only that, they charge $750.00 for a coaches book. How much do you think it cost them to make that coaches book... $20.00 bucks or so?
The organizers of that event need a wake-up call and I am hoping that the decision that you have made to stop coverage will give them that.
Good luck guys...

These are photocopied, straight from a word processor and bound in a very home grown manner. Any printer and stapler could reproduce unlimited copies.
As of today I know for a FACT that event coordinators were asking team coaches if they knew of any colleges that would like a book for $150 because they had an abundance to clear out.
This same event had hundreds of copies of Glenn's feature article on Michael T. White going around six courts yeterday and yet couldn't/wouldnt find a way to photocopy the "book"(Suwanee Sports Academy has a nice photocopier right on site) to get to Glenn and Chris to be able to cover the event. I suppose self promotion was more important than these players.
RIDICULOUS...
Hoopgurlz has increased the visibility of so many players and organizers programs on a shoe string budget and yet the best Michael T. White could do was wave them off yet he had time to go on and on about himself in an interview just a day before? I am guessing that the $5.00 to copy the pages is much needed to go toward the delinquent hotel bill!
What a disappointment of a person/organization on so many levels!
I suppose I will also skip out on the 17U tourney, no need to support this organization. I hear K. Powell has a nice tourney going on this weekend with Kelsey Bone in attendance being held at GA Tech if anyone in the ATL wants to see good ball.

@ Kelvin's Jr. Phenom camp, check out '09 6'5" Janiece Johnson & '10 5'8" PG Ronika Ransford from HD Woodson/ DC Cobras.
On the topic of the event hosters being what we call "petty", I think its pathetic, and really don't understand the motive behind it. Its a catch 22 because you want to support the girls, but as far as they go I say....RUN!

Give em hell, Glenn! I'm one of the organizer's clientele, if you know what I mean. I've never posted before because I've just been observing and never been moved to say anything until now. Before Hoopgurlz, we all were at the mercy of the "organizers." I think it's RIDICULOUS that you all don't charge more or that you don't make more of your content for pay (that's a compliment). You have opened up so many eyes in such a short time. I have stopped and thanked you a couple times. Though I know you and Chris are very busy people, I hope more stop and thank you for your energy and devotion to our game. As for the "organizers" ... they are the main reason why the NCAA has committees looking into abolishing the summer evaluation period. Whatever happens, there always will be room for Hoopgurlz in it!

Way to step up to them Glenn. Are these the same guys that got criminal contempt in
court the other day and had embezzelment problems in the past? The NCAA should step
in and stop this blackeye on the sport of women's basketball.

I applaud Glenn for standing up to stupidity. I think his example should be followed by coaches, players, parents and fans at all levels. If you are a regular on this board, you love the game and should stand up to support what is good about it and root out all the clowns that prey upon the sport. Expect and demand more! The girls and the sport deserve better.

I had mixed emotions about coming back here because of some things that happened in the past and the primary reason we decided come back here was to try and get our kids some NATIONAL recognition. It doesn't make good business since because negative pub hurts especially after Glen did an article on the problems Mr White was having. Live and learn but after being around this a few years, nothing really shocks me anymore.

Simmie and others ... we'll still try to do our best to cover the kids here. Our job is just far more difficult because of the circumstances.
As I said in my explanation, one of the ways we can compensate is entering more kids in our database. We have some help now in creating the profiles and we are working on creating easier entry points for all players, not just the top-ranked ones. I urge players (and their parents) to take advantage of the blogging feature on the player pages. You can post your schedule, links to stories written about you, etc. Every little bit helps!

And I really don't think some of these tourney holders get it, or worse, give two hoots.
That's sad!
In other news...Janiece Johnson (JJ) & Ronika Ransford (Neek) have been selected to participate in the All-Star game @ the Jr Phenom Camp & Coach Oliver of HD Woodson/ DC Cobras has been selected to coach. C Oliver will be coaching against JJ, but I think this is a WIN WIN for our program!
Way to go ladies & coach, finally breaking thru on the Nat'l scene! :)

Glenn, I was in the same boat. I got to Swanee and noted that they gave another AAU coach a players guide.
Unlike yourself, Mike White was not pleasant at all. I did my homework the old fashion way and used a note pad and pen while asking questions to fans and walking up to players.
Don't worry though. Mike will soon be history at Adidas, as I met the new contact person.

Former Adidas Director claims he has all rights to the Showtime Event as well as a couple other big ones...
So, if that is the case Former Adidas Man will be back next year in Suwanee, GA but the event will not have Adidas in its' name.
