If you order a burger at a restaurant the waiter/waitress will normally ask "How would you liked that cooked".

I'm asking a similiar question. How would you like your basketball?

I like mine full of basketball fundamentals, plenty of back door cuts, off the ball and on the ball screens, bounce passes, mid range shots off the glass. For desert I'd like to see some charges taken. As a matter of fact give me some charges away from the paint. Make my charges on the sidelines and the open court.

For those who are wondering where this came from I had a discussion with a co-worker about professional basketball versus college basketball. I personally prefer college basketball over professional because it gives me all those things I like. The pros are more one on one players. Sure you'll get a screen and roll here and there but for the most part it's who can beat who. That's not basketball to me.

I'm just curious as to what everyone else considers "GOOD BASKETBALL"

Excellent question,
I also prefer the college game however I used to watch the NBA exculusively. My reasoning is selfish I watch to see if I can steal ideas from the college coach's.

I like my basketball tough. By this I mean I like mentally tough kids to always want to compete. I stole a saying from a prominent coach (high school) who asked his players after watching a team warm up flawlessly (before a state championship game) what are they going to do after we punch them in the mouth? Of course this team that executed warm-ups so well did not fair well once the other team demonstrated their tough resolve to win. They bumped all cutters, took charges, rebounded better, and mentally took this team with excellent skill players out of their game. THAT'S BASKETBALL!
On offense I like teams that have the discipline to actually run a set. From my vantage point most teams in this area do not run plays. Especially against a man2man defense. They run what they call motion which allows players to read and make decisions which has its place.
When the game is on the line the team that can excecute wins 90% of the time. That execution could be offensive defensive or using an out of bounds play. Picks have to be set, cuts have to be run properly, and the girl's must not be selfish. The problem I have noticed is many of our players today are selfish, they let their emotions come before winning. Things such as not liking a player on the team get in the way, parental influence gets in the way, thats not including the number of ADHD students has increased which is frustrating as a coach.
