Nice little point guard who had made knee surgery a while back. Great floor leader. Her game sort of reminds me of Bobby Hurley. Not much of a scorer. Just one of those natural leaders who knows how to run an offense. Will knock down the open outside shot and she's a deft ball handler.

What else would you like to know?

And from her high school website this season last game...

Girls Bow Out of Tournament Play With Sectional Loss The NC girls basketball team was eliminated from post-season play Saturday when they were defeated by Hamilton Southeastern 53-49 in the semi-final round. After starting out with a first quarter lead, the team trailed most of the game. The Lady Panthers staged a comeback late in the fourth quarter to take the lead by one when senior Jackie Gill converted a three-point play. HSE took the lead back one possession later and North Central was unable to convert on its' remaining opportunities. Briana Bass played an overall great floor game and led the team with 15 points. Sophomore Kyla Buckley showed off some great post moves in her 13 point effort. The team finishes the season with a 13-8 record. North Central will return four starters in Bass, Gill, Buckley, and Kira Carter. They graduate just one starter in Jackie Gill, along with reserve Lauren Harden, Whitley Wynns, who missed the first 12 games with a knee injury, and Cassie Hendrix, who missed the season following back surgery.

Smoky:

Bobby Hurley was not a great shooter. He was a very good spot up shooter. He was not one to hit jumpers consistantly off of dribble penetration, etc. That being said, Hurley was one of the greatest college point guards in the history of the ACC.

Now, back to Bass. Bass can score. No, she's not as quick as Bobbit. Bobbit is the fastest PG in college right now and her ball handling is supreme. Bobbit is not a good shooter.

Bass is a college coaches dream at the point. She rarely makes mistakes and is a great free throw shooter. She's very good at the drive and kicks. (driving and kicking out to open shooters). She's not the fastest guard in the world, but she has great court vision for her size and she gets her teammates involved. She's very, very smart. I consider her an on the court coach. She takes charge of her team.

In my years of following basketball, the best point guards were not the leading scorers on their teams for the most part. Not suppose to be. Bass will nail an open jumper. Bass is an old school point guard. Not much flash, but just gets the job done.

For Summit to recruit her says a lot about Bass. Summitt doesn't need a 30ppg scorer to run her point. Look what happened to Gatewood. She will have enough talent surrounding the point. All Bass has to do is run Summits offense and be an extension of Summit out on the floor.

What you have to understand about college scouts, recruiters, etc. is that they look for a thinking PG who has a great feel for the game. Not all PG's are super athletic putting up huge numbers. PG's are players who are at the controls have have to make the whole thing work. They are the glue of the team. If you have a PG who has no court awareness, you will not win a lot of games.
