Those who have been following ESPN HoopGurlz for a bit know this is my favorite week, not only for the competition, but for the smothered porkchops and other Southern treats at 209 on the River (formerly Cafe 209). To honor the fact that our staff eats there daily, the good folks at 209 on the River are offering daily lunch specials to those mentioning "ESPN HoopGurlz."
209 on the River is just a block away from the Marriott: No. 4 Eighth Street. It now is four times the size it was at its downtown location and will be offering special events lately, again to commemorate Nike Nationals.
Tuesday: Music on the Patio, Dinner Buffet, Hip Hop DJ, 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. $20 cover.
Wednesday: Chris Hansen Birthday Bash. We're giving Chris the night off so you all can help him celebrate his last year in his 20s. Wednesdays also are live jazz nights, 6-9 p.m., on the patio.
Thursday: Music on the Patio, Dinner Buffet, Hip Hop DJ, 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. ($10 cover after 10 p.m.).
Friday: Open Patio, Hip Hop DJ, 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., ALL-U-CAN-DRINK, 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., Open Menu ($10 cover).
