I am not sure about everyone else, but I would much rather see what is going on at this tournament rather than, Nike Skills or the Native American tournament..

Are you kidding? We are covering six events at the same time; EOT, adidas event in Beaverton, Big State Flava Jam in Texas, Blue Chip in the northeast, Southeast Elite in Atlanta, and USJN in Cincy. Game updates and who is playing well has been updated live via twitter and all these events will have tip sheets on the top performers.

Last year by the way you guys did daily articles from day 1, 2,3, 4 and then on top of that tip sheets. Not just 2 sentence updates every hour on the one game you might be watching. This is constructive critism don't take it in the wrong way as I do love your twitter feed also and know you guys are probably stretched thin covering all that. I would just have liked to seen daily recaps in addition. It is a free site though and beggars can't be choosers.

I don't twitter.. just my choice here..

Last year we had daily articles, I know tomorrow is the end of of the EOT and I have not seen an article on this tournament or any of the others..

Not trying to be offensive, but even a blind guy can see their are no article, that is my only point..

thanks

We decided to cover more events to see more kids rather than have a full staff at each event. The message we got from a lot of readers was that they wanted more events and players covered rather than daily stuff from just a few events. It will be interesting to see the reception of this summer's coverage after covering a lot more events than any other year.

I'll take that explanation makes sense as well. You will also get a chance to see more kids play for evaluations that way.

I understand the thinking but my thing is this yeah we will get player evaluations from all of these tourney's but it seems that no matter what tournament you go see all you guys do is continually follow the same teams and talk about the same players. I too have followed you on twitter and just keep hearing about DFW and the likes. I look forward to reading about sleepers diamonds in the roughs. I like it when your hear about he kid who comes out of nowhere because she was playing for that one club team that didnt have big names, probably was always in the consolation bracket and you stumbled upon her while you where waiting for a different game to start that's all. :D

I think what you will also enjoy down the line is that Mindi is working the EOT as well, talking to players for future feature stories. So it's a little different but in the long run we think it will bring more content to all regions.

I can safely say that I haven't seen a single team at the EOT more than twice since I've been here. We are trying to do everything for you folks -- coverage from events (many of our readers are currently at these events anyway), plenty of tip sheets and player evaluations that you will start to see rolling in very soon, collecting as many school lists as possible, working on feature stories for August and beyond that will cover not just the elite of the elite but the other teams and kids as well, keeping you updated when we can on twitter, etc.

The rewards will start pouring in for you, our readers, quickly. Be patient and the goods will appear.

As for NWhoopball -- yes, it is your choice not to twitter, much as it is our choice that we do. It is easier and much more practical for us to twitter scores and notes during the day than to log in to the message board on our phones/computers and post away on here from the gym. You don't have to sign up for an account to 'follow' us -- just bookmark http://www.twitter.com/hoopgurlz and check it out periodically this month.

But you might also be surprised at some of the folks (kids and coaches -- both club and college) who either follow us or tweet themselves. It makes for some interesting reading.

Pat, let's be clear here: Coverage of any given tournament isn't a right or a given. This Web site is for everyone, including Native Americans, who conduct a respectful and honorable basketball event every year. It's even for high-school assistant coaches in Oregon.

We made the decision to cover more of the country, this being a national Web site, and ESPN gave us the resources to do so. During the course of the year, including the summer evaluation period, we mention and post photos of hundreds of girls in our story, multimedia and database mixes. Our coverage is not confined to the one or two stories we post daily. We have a lot of other things going on and avenues to recognize the hard work of as many girls as possible. What we are posting in July doesn't even come close to reflecting the many things we are working on this month.

Saying that our coverage has "dropped off" is just an absurd statement, and a reflection of the axe we already know you have to grind against us. As you would say, even a blind man can see that.

Just to reinforce what Mindi said about Twitter, we just started publicizing our account in mid-April and we're already closing in on 1,100 followers, so it seems pretty clear that it's something a lot of people want. We're putting effort into making our reports, and we're making it easy to follow. If you say you want something, but won't make an effort to read it when we offer it, I just find it difficult to stomach your complaints.

I guess you have been missing my re-tweets that HoopGurlz is doing because I am constantly tweeting about hidden talent, sleepers and fresh babies

For example:

Md flames 93 don't seem to care that Natasha Cloud is going their state school because they are giving her Comets fits (via @LBoogie213)

Blue Chip: Md x-treme and nyc heat doing it in ot. Ty marshall brought them back once again (via @LBoogie213)

They are Retweeting(RT) my post under the Hoopgurlz account, so they are in their timeline, hence(via @LBoogie). Twitterberry doesn't allow multiple accounts so I can't tweet directly to the HG account.

If you're a DISCRIMINATING sports fan, HoopGurlz has proved to be right on top of plenty much everything that's going on in girls grassroots basketball, up to this point.
It seems to the IH that most people's problems have not been event coverage, but NON-COVERAGE OF SPECIFIC TEAMS AND PLAYERS...

There is a girl in Alaska who is amazing! I hear she's in Texas playing this summer. I think her last name is Poole. I saw her in a tournament in Atlanta last summer playing with a Texas team. All I can say is .... wow!

Which is why we're covering more events, to see more kids. DFW made the championship against All Ohio so their bracket play results and performances were tweeted thought that doesn't mean those are the only teams seen. I posted about three kids from Arkansas New Life, and about Amber Orrange of the Houston Heat to name a few and I saw more teams in this event whom I've never watched play before so I'm pretty confident that the tip sheet will not be the same names and those players beyond the tip sheet getting evaluated and graded out will also be new names and faces. My tweets may not have been as diverse as the EOT coverage but I am also at this event solo trying to get to as many games as possible. I will drop one name for everyone to be aware of coming out of Texas, Brianna Turner. She's nearly 6-3 and entering the 8th grade next year. As expected she's on the timid side because of age but the talent and potential for this kid is exciting.
