The point guard is the Alpha and Omega of ANY real team--ESPECIALLY during the month of July, when the REAL action jumps off.
Here is the baker's dozen in the MD/DC/VA region who the RBR is focusing on, regardless of class, this July (in alphabetical order):

1. Tiffany Davis, 5'6", 2009, Hampton/Hampton, Va.;
2. Carleeda Green, 5'7", 2009, H.D. Woodson/Washington, D.C.;
3. Keirah Hicks, 5'4", 2009, Western/Baltimore, Md.;
4. Tariq Hislop, 5'7", 2009, Paint Branch/Burtonsville, Md.;
5. Danielle Jackson, 5'4", 2009, Forest Park/Woodbridge, Va.;
6. Lynnae Lampkins, 5'7", 2008, Gwynn Park/Brandywine, Md.;

Terrian Quatterbalm 5'6" Flowers,she is a scoring guard but is very tough. A perfect example of a young lady who has played on the circuit early against good competition. The last two years she has not played on the same quality team thus little exposure. She can play!
Destiny Williams from Riverdale is another one that deserves recognition. She is very fast, handles as well as anyone in the area, and has good court vision.

These two are a must add in my opinion....:cool:

I was hoping VT would have recruited this young lady but Richmond ended up getting her.

Dani Jackson, Akeema Richards, and Ronika Saunders had great weekends during the showcase weekend in April. They were definitely well above substandard.. I didn't see many of the others but surely there were others on your list that played well during the exposure weekend..

I don't think many in our area like the direction that VT has been going. Maybe in a few years with the right STAFF....:cool:

The MD/DC/VA region AS A WHOLE has shown substandard point guard play, from the school season up through now, in the IH's opinion. The twelve listed are the ones who the IH feels are the top twelve, RIGHT NOW.
There are others in our region who are talented and have great potential; however, at present they either play too young, have significant POINT GUARD flaws, or just haven't shown well SO FAR.
Those listed either have national pedigree (Davis/school; Green/school; Jackson/school, club; Ransford/school, club; Richards/school, club; Watson/club), or regional pedigree (Brinkley/school; Goodwin/school; Hicks/school; Hislop/school; R. Saunders/club; S. Saunders/club). In other words, sports fans, each one of these twelve DID SOMETHING OF NOTE on whichever stage...
Ideally, a region of this size should have about 20-25 point guards, total, at these two levels, in any given year. As a point of reference, there were about 25 point guards who repped the D-M-V the rising-senior summer of Camille Collier/Jasmine Thomas, two seasons ago. Last club season, when Brinkley/Goodwin/Ransford/Watson were rising-sophomores--when quality PG's start to emerge--there were about 20 repping PG's.
In the IH's opinion, a cursory glance at the region's point guards, at this point in the club season, reveals about 17-18 point guards of note--these twelve, and then 5-6 more who look like they may be able to do a little bit of REAL WORK by the time they graduate (let's say that three of them MIGHT be Linda Stepney, the Lake Taylor/Norfolk, Virginia freshman, and Kyani White, the Stonewall Jackson/Manassas, Virginia sophomore, and Devonne Richardson, the Milford Mill/Milford Park, Maryland junior...).
The IH feels that there are some universal requirements of the point guard position: running a team; scoring from the position; defending the position; the mentals--those of a PLAYER, and those of a COACH ON THE FLOOR; and, the general skill set of a competent point guard. This is the index used when the IH is evaluating the position...

By the way, sports fans, the IH is of the opinion that POINT GUARD COLLEGE doesn't make one a better point guard; it makes one THINK better as a point guard. If a girl doesn't properly digest the information; interpret the information; and apply it in REAL GAMES afterwards; then all a girl did was take good notes in a class, and bust a basic sweat in a gym...

IH, I got one for you to keep a close eye on. She'll be a freshman this fall. Her name is Angela Mickens and she'll be attending Robert E. Lee High in Staunton, VA. She played on the Lee JV team last year as an 8th grader on a team that went 16-3. She led the team in scoring and assists and has so far played pretty well for her AAU team. She gave the Spotswood-related AAU team fits in a local tournament over the past weekend.

She's about 5'6" right now and may grow a little more before it's all said and done. Just wanted to give you a heads-up!
