I don't know how Fairfax won, there must have been some good officials there to do that game, The Potomac Valley Teams are getting shorter every year, can someone tell me where all the teams are going, is the competition getting that good that teams are dropping out or playing Division two in the regionals. Also someone tell me why all our good players are going out to Virginia to play.

Most girls have decided to play UP. The girls are either playing with a Elite team or their High School summer league.

A lot of the High schools are making there players stay and play with them. Then these teams are not playing in regionals, they are going else where.

That's the problem. These high school coaches can't make me do anything I don't want to do with my child.

Your funny! lol...what if the High School AAU offers more exposure for your child! I dont think anyone would MAKE you do anything with your child...But I will say this...its a bit more MARKETABLE sometimes to put your child in a situation where she could get more exposure! If this would be present in a high school AAU or summer program then so be it! DJ JAZZY JEFF and the FRESH PRINCE said it best...A lot of you PARENTS JUST DONT UNDERSTAND!...Your kid can have all the talent in the world...but if they are not MARKETED properly they will not get the accolades they should recieve! SOOOO if you have a HYPE MAN...something that my man INTEL has been so successful at...and your kid has talent...this equals your bank account staying COMFORTABLE :D

Every parent has to do what's best for THEIR child. When it's all said and done we can only pray that we made the right choice. :)

This quote brings to mind the number of parents I have encountered who have not made good choices with regards to their child. I know of two such parents whose child played in the WCAC, one whose child played in Mo.Co. then a sucessful team in Va. and then back in Md. (Balt. area). In all three cases the kid in 9th grade showed that they were possible college ball players. None of these three received athletic scholarships. In my opinion if they had attended just their local schools they would have developed enough to garner an offer.

Dalist, I agree totally If that is in fact what the high school coaches intentions are. I am not new to the exposure game. I have heard many times from other parents that they are not allowed by there childs high school coaches to do certain things. Bottom line is we have to make our decisions based on what's best for the kids not the coaches. We shouldn't be forced into decisions because of our ties to the high school they attend.

Well this is what they are doing, I had one of my better players leave this year, because her High School coach suspended her from the team for 6 weeks, because she went to Nationals with us last year. Now she has gotten no interest from anyone besides the coaches I had been talking to for her. When we played against them a couple of weeks ago, the team is terrible, we beat them by 20 pts. and the yshot 52 freethrows, and I played my bench for most of the second half.

One problem I have noticed with the ELITE teams is the bench is TOO DEEP. Can you properly manage a quality team of 15 plus players if they're all looking for exposure?

Fairfax ran a very aggressive defense, and worked it inside for more close-in hoops. Alexis Lewis is turning into "sure shot" and Nikola from SJC had 5 or more blocks from under the basket, 3 point line, and mid-range. Fairfax takes the national #3 ranking as a result.

Second (afternoon) game was close in first half but the excellent Majic outpaced a tired Fairfax roster in the second half.

Sports fans will recall that in last year's regionals, Fairfax was even with Flames until Katie Sheahin took over late and put it away. At the time, Katie was the only player on the floor with a year of WCAC play, and it showed in her strength to the basket. Now more girls have been forced to play strong.

Good games all around. Officiating not a factor, HL.

I'm not sure what your'e looking for...there's three PV teams all capable of finishing way up nationally in this age group, and 2 of 3 from Maryland. And Classics looking better...it's a strong class no matter how you cut it.

 Well that is called PETTY!! Unfortunately a lot of these guys who call themselves and have us calling them "coach" have been going through life undiagnosed with that disease. PETTINESS is a SIN, especially when you are an adult that claims to be in it for the kid's best interest.
My daughter went through a situation like this. The relationship between her coach, myself and her is one of family. Family knows we don't always have to be friends. My thing was, if my daughter was going to be uncomfortable she could leave the team, I would never allow her to stay with a petty dude that suspends or threatens to take any action against her for playing for another team for her benefit.
