In the last few weeks some of the messages on this board have had a very negative tone. This afternoon someone crossed the line and posted something completely inappropriate that had no place on this board. As a moderator you walk a fine line between free speech and a free-for-all. For the most part posters on this board understand how to exchange in healthy debate, making sure that they do not make negative comments about a player. When someone steps out of bounds, others in the community usually step up and put them in check..if that doesn't work I step in and do the moderator thing.
I have to take some blame for today's incident, because I think I let the FFS thread go on too long. My thought process was to leave the thread open so if someone from the FFS organization wanted to come back with a response they could...everyone gets equal time. After I made my post about stopping the personal attacks, the debate continued and everyone seemed to be able to make their points without direct personal attacks. However, I think this may have led some new folks to believe that this thread was the norm not the exception on this board and it was open season on any AAU team you had an issue with.
I have yet to use my moderator 'superpowers' to ban users but if we don't clean it up I will have to start banning users. Please let's keep this board a fun place to discuss and promote the girls in our community. I know we all don't agree on everything but there are ways to express ourselves without trying to destroy others, especially when it is a young person's life and future.
If anyone was any thoughts or issues please feel free to PM me.
