After a one year absence a local girl's all-star tournament has returned this Saturday. This tournament has held a special place in my heart since I took my daughter to the tournament during the summer before she was going to begin to play varsity basketball. We saw amazing players that summer, here is a partial list of those who played: Vivian Frieson, Garfield (Gonzaga), Erica Edwards, Redmond (Sacramento State) (this was my girl's hero since that’s where she was to start playing varsity ball the next year), Federal Way guard and P-I girls basketball most valuable player Salena Dickerson, Garfield guard and Pepperdine recruit LaCale Pringle-Buchanan and King's guard Sara Mosiman, a Washington recruit twice named the 2A state tournament MVP. The play on the floor was tremendous. The talent level far beyond what my daughter's could ever dream she would have to offer. We never thought that she could someday play in an event like this.

My wife and I are so excited to see our daughter Courtney has the opportunity to represent the 4A team this Saturday.

There is a ton of talent again this year with many future DI and DII players on the floor.

was played a year ago at Cleveland HS. The game was played with Sheryl Swoopes as one of the coaches. It seems much more arranged this year than a year ago, but this is the first time i have heard of it as far as advertisement. Hope it goes well.

I was there last year and it was a lot of fun, with a DJ and so forth in addition to very strong players on the court. I recall Swoopes being more of a goodwill ambassador, though, signing autographs in the lobby while the game was going on inside after making some sort of comments over the PA. Don't think she coached, though I guess she is doing that with younger kids now, which is great!
