Blacktop-Report:"Where did the NY Liberty-Belles go Wrong?"
The NY Liberty-Belles AAU traveling club team based in L.I.,NY was founded by Mr.Vincent Cannizaro in 1990,
the LB's were one of the premier club teams in the country, with former players such as:Kenya Key, Chamique Holdclaw,Sue Bird and Tina Charles.The LB's also have a strong affiliation with legendary basketball HS Christ the King.
The climate of girls HS and club team basketball has changed dramatically, and so has the LB's position as a major club team on a national level.
With the proliferation of powerful club teams like DFW,Tennessee Flight and Boo Williams, it is very,very difficult to place a competitive team on the road.
In lieu of the recent club team crumblings,mergers,sponsorship craving, McDonalds AA committee bureaucracy and undermining,we can only hope to move forward in the rapidly growing world of girls and womens basketball.
