Ok, I know I've been gone most of the summer but I can't believe no one has covered this yet. The hot stanky gym rumor mill is all a twitter!
What gives?!!
Porcha quit TC for Blacksburg pastures!!!
So who will be second 2 know? :p
TRP rumored to Edison - Crawford rumored to everywhere BUT Edison
(yeah that was touched on but went off track as these threads do)
And whut's most importantly: Pending District 2-Step for NOVA Region Teams? Who is on the table to move? What interesting matchups will this produce? What is the potential fallout for Districts, Regions? When do it go down? This year? Next year?
I mean you leave the board for a little R&R and all this poo happens...
People, people, lets get on this. What have ya heard?
this is po'dabee the place to get the bizz. I need facts STAT!!!
If I can't get facts, more rumors will do. I don't have any trashy titles on the summer reading list this year.:D

This is a growing thing in women's basketball, I think it's a smart move on some universities part. C. Porsha should do well on the recruiting scene...he's already on the job!!

But what is in the works as far as NOVA Districts moving teams around.
I would think that type of decision would be on the street already with the way schedules are planned in advance.
Does anyone know if there is any credibility to this rumor?

I heard the district changes will not take full effect until the 2008-09 school year. With the fall schedules already made it would be difficult to go back and re-do

No, but I might be your long lost sister. Is there any truth TRP is leaving T.C? What about A. Crawford leaving Edison? Who are going to be the standout players from the Patriot District? Thanks, Diva you know we got to keep these men in check....lol

If Tierra stays at TCW I think this will be the year for the Patriot district to make a stink in the Northern Region but I heard rumors that TRP was talking to Teasley at NDA. If that happens --I see Lee HS taking the district title although TCW had a rising freshman coming of the JV squad that could help out. If Crawford does not return to Edison, and goes to Hayfield--they are a young squad with only a few players playing summer ball over at Cardinal not sure if her presence will make that much of a difference. West Springfield lost a few players but continues to maintain a fundamentally sound squad--South County got hit hard by graduation and not real sure what West Potomac and Annandale will look like this year. Did I miss anyone?

Hey NOVAites
I'm being told that when the district 2 step begins (not this year) that Edison will be becoming more Patriotic. TC -not as Patriotic as before.
So Diva, you gots any specific details on the pending changes? Not just for Patriot but all of NOVA.
As for the rest of you- I'm revoking your press passes.;)

AJ-
The VHSL proposed the following district changes
District I
Centreville
Chantilly
Westfield
Herndon
Stone Bridge
South Lakes
District II
Fairfax
Lake Braddock
Madison
Oakton
Robinson
South County
Woodson
West Springfield
District III
Falls Church
Langley
Marshall
McLean
Stuart
Wakefield
Washington Lee
Yorktown
District 4
Annandale
Edison
Hayfield
Lee
Mount Vernon
TC Williams
Thomas Jefferson
West Potomac
not sure when and if this will pass but they said these changes are based more on geography than school size like the last time they realigned the district--with the price of petro rising

They voted on the new proposed districts a few weeks ago and it came a couple votes short of passing IIRC. It will come up again in the fall as the VHSL starts their statewide realignment...the new districts wouldn't come into use until 2009-10.
I would like to see the districts by straight geography--the only reason they are set up like they are now was to split the Division 5 and Division 6 football teams into different districts, but that is no longer the case since enrollments have changed and teams have stayed in the same district. If they're not going to keep the divisional split, then just go geographical, cut down on travel, and have as many natural rivalries as possible.
As for the Patriot...assuming no major transfers it's between TC and Lee, I think you have to give the slight nod to TC based on their play at the end of the season. West Springfield is probably third, and after that I have no idea...Annandale has some players returning and maybe West Potomac's young players will step up after taking their beatings last year.

If the VHSL is going to realign based on geography, then they're going to have to figure out what to do about the way they do the football playoffs. Football is really one of the few sports where having 800 more kids matters. In basketball, you're only going to carry about 10-15 on your varsity roster, and you can probably find that many quality players whether you have 1500 kids or 2400 kids. Football is a different proposition because the teams are so large. The reason the realignment failed (albeit narrowly) initially is because the way the realignment was proposed, a couple of teams would have been crucified in the power point scheme because they'd have been one of only a couple of D6 teams in a mostly D5 district, potentially altering the playoff picture significantly.
I'm not a big fan of the power point system in general anyway and would prefer that it went away. Maybe this will prompt a new look at the whole playoff system for football.
