DETROIT COUNTRY DAY (20-1) ended their regulaur season by ending their 37 game win streak with a loss to EAST LANSING (20-0). LANSING had the magic in this 46-45 thriller in BEVERLY HILLS. LANSING took their first lead with under 3 to play and held on by hitting some clutch free throws down the stretch. The YELLOW JACKETS stung themselves with 20 turovers to LANSING's 7. SAMI TUCKER (MILWAUKEE-WISCONSIN) led the way for LANSING with 14 points and 12 rebounds. KLARISSA BELL added 12. COUNTRY DAY was led by AMBER MOORE (ILLINOIS) with 14 points and 6'6 junior MADISON WILLIAMS had 11 blocks. A last second three attempt from SHARENA TAYLOR was too long and the 'JACKETS streak came to an end. COUNTRY DAY may still have a date with COMMUNITY DAY (20-0) in the CLASS B CHAMPIONSHIP, a rematych of last years 46-40 final won by COUNTRY. EAST LANSING competes in the CLASS A and were runner-ups to GROSS POINTE NORTH last year.

OAK RIDGE TN stumbled last night to POWELL 52-47 which ended the LADY WILCATS 35 game district winning streak. BRITTANY ALLEN led POWELL with 18 points and 9 rebounds. REGHAN THOMPSON led OAK RIDGE by scoring 18 points. The last 18 region 3-AAA titles have been won by these two programs with OAK RIDGE winning 12 since '93.

All themambas pick 6 nationally ranked teams advanced to the sweet 16 in TEXAS 5A last night. NIMITZ set up a showdown with DULLES with a 62-41 win over CINCO RANCH with BRITTNEY GRINER scoring 34 points and grabbing 15 boards. A 25-4 run helped seal it and ruin CINCO RANCH's hopes of eliminating NIMITZ a fourth straight year. DULLES did their part in Region 3 with a 68-59 win over NORTH SHORE and LAUREN FLORES. KELSEY BONE had 19 points and 13 rebounds while AMBER ARCENEAUX-FRANCIS supplied 19 points as well. FLORES scored 24, with 13 coming in the final stanza. BELLAIRE advanced on the top half with a 56-37 win over ELSIK. NIMITZ looks to avenge 64-63 loss to DULLES in the ISD CHAMPIONSHIP that was played November 22nd. BONE vs. GRINER. GRINER vs. BONE. In Region 2, CY FAIR and COLLEGE PARK advanced with both recieving a scare. CY-FAIR won a thriller with CHINEY OGWUMIKE hitting a fall away jumper off the glass with 19 seconds to go to beat WESTFIED 46-45. OGWUMIKE scored 23 points for the BOBCATS who recieved some heavy news when CASSIE PEOPLES went down with a leg and didn't return. Her return looks unlikely for the playoffs and the BOBCATS will have it that more difficult to defend their 5A TEXAS crown. COLLEGE PARK used a 14-5 fourth quarter to take a 2 point gap to a 6 point, 53-47 win. IRVING MACARTHUR stayed alive in Region 1 with 51-29 cakewalk over CARROLL. MAC will take on MANSFIELD SUMMIT Friday.
In 4A, MIDWAY WACO went whacko on FORNEY and won 88-29. Sets up battle with DALLAS LINCOLN Friday before the winner likely takes in FRISCO. FRISCO beat cross-town rivals CENTENNIAL 70-49. TIMBERVIEW and ARLINGTON SEGUIN also advanced in 4A.
