Two stories today from Philly. Mindi Rice reports on the PCAL switch to PIAA membership this year http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recruiting/basketball/womens/news/story?id=3872580 and I try to get to the bottom of the debate on why the big three don't all play this year (No O'Hara vs. Germantown or Carroll vs. Germantown or even Wood vs. Germantown) http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/recruiting/basketball/womens/news/story?id=3872341

GERMANTOWN played league foe NOTRE DAME ACADEMY yesterday and held on 28-27 in a EAGLE-GIANT like performance that came down to field goal. A missed one. A lot of missed ones to be exact. Future VILLANOVA teammates, G'TOWN's JESSE CAREY (BELLES) and ND's DEVON KANE (COMETS) faced off in what may turn out to be trilogy. It was MAGGIE LUCAS ('10, PENNSTATE, BELLES) who managed 13 points for the PATRIOTS and CAREY helped limit KANE to 8 points and no field goals after the first period. CAREY herself was limited to 3 points as G'TOWN shot 10-35 for the game and the IRISH, 10-37. Next gridiron game on the hardwood will be February 12 with a postseason matchup likely to follow. GERMANTOWN goes to 21-0 and NOTRE DAME falls to 16-6. The IRISH got beat by 20 to the hands of O'HARA and lost tough ones to PEDDIE NJ by 5 and ARCHBISHOP CARROLL by a bucket.

How could either of these teams be held under 30 when there were at least 3 players on the court capable of scoring 30 individually? Was anyone there?
