anyone wanna take a stab at the O/U on the KW/AR and BP/MT games?
AR-KW : 146 (if the refs let them play), 121 (if they call it tight)
BP-MT : 132
But what the heck do I know? I thought Friday that a little team from Covington had a shot Saturday against the (soon-to-be-former) national No. 1. ;) :D
Anyone willing to send me quarterly text updates during either the BP-MT game or the AR-KW game?

I am going to go the other way on the o/u. I think it is going to be a defensive monster of a game. I think the score will stay in the 40's for both teams. I'm giving the edge to Riverside. One thing I noticed from when Riverside played in the Tournament of Champions last December was that teams across the nation don't seem to drive the defense game home as strongly as here in the northwest. This is going to be a nail biter and who ever is in the best condition in the stretch will win it. Riversides experience on the national level just gives them the mental edge and certainly their endurance is outstanding.

The 10th ranked Issaquah Eagles out hustled, out rebounded and played an excellent team game in beating the 9th ranked Redmond Mustangs 54-49 in the KingCo 4A opener for each school. We have a complete re-cap over on the local site.

Bellarmine 75 Mt Tahoma 63
Bellarmine dominated this game playing without Sarah Hartwell. There other point guard was injured during the game but they still jumped all over Mt T. Bellarmine was up by as many as 20 and was led by Simonne Potts with 20+ pts.
I'll be at the KW/AR game tomorrow. Even thought KW is riding high I still think AR by 6. They are that good.

Anyone know why Hartwell didn't play last night? And who/what does "there (sic) other point guard was injured during the game" mean? Was that Barnes, Beardemphl (shoot, her name always gets me) or someone else? Did she return to the game?
Through box scores, I've been impressed by MTs Ojeda so far this season. I know Samms had a lot of the spotlight, but I don't remember Ojeda going off quite like this last year.

What do I get for winning the Bellarmine-Mt over/under contest. I said 139 and it came out 138, so I'm the closest :).

When watching MT, I always thought Ojeda was inconsistant - great one game or one half but then would disappear. I do agree that a part of the reason for that was Samms. She is their obvious #1 option now and has played like it - - - hope she keeps it up

ok, ok, I'll be the first to eat crow. Much respect to KW. They really showed themselves to be at the top of the class tonight. They are certainly more than a one person team. All of their players have a high basketball IQ. At this point, the championship has to be their's to lose.

Kentwood was in control for most of the game tonight which is why they won by such a margin. The faster the game was played the better it got. They did a good job making a defensive adjustment after AR came out and wisely got the ball into the post to start the second half. For some reason after KW made the adjustment to deny the post entry pass on the initial side of the offense the ball never really got reversed in time to make the defense move and still get the ball in with time to score on the opposite side.
Kentwood is fantastic in transition and that goes along with Lindsey Moore's court vision as well as the rest of the kids that fill the lanes and finish the shots. I didn't think the margin was going to be as wide as it was but they kept their foot on the gas. They hit timely, back-breaking shots late in the game when AR made a run at it, much the way they did when they had the lead against St. Mary's.
One thing I'll point out is that both of those teams were deficient in the post. It's too bad they didn't get to play Regis Jesuit in Oregon because I think that would have given them a different kind of challenge as they've now proven that they are really THAT good at playing up and down.
Best of luck to both teams and I look forward to the rematch.

With all the messages I got tonight, I'm excited to watch the tape on this one next week. ... Glad the SeaTimes, P-I and TNT were all there to take it in, too. Nice to see the local papers paying some attention to girls hoops, especially early in the season.

....I see no one was an over/under genius on the Kentwood victory over ARHS. Mindi was closest and she was 8 points off. I'm not at all surprised Kentwood won, but thought the Ravens would make it closer... I'm assuming that in addition to the post deficiencies, AR didn't shoot well? (Guess I should go read the news articles when I get a chance, huh?)

My daughter went to the KW vs AR game. Her take on the game was that KW was playing better team ball. AR was having difficulties with their shots. The one player she thought that stood out for AR was Kara Jenkins who was a beast on the boards. She is a big fan of Nicole Jacksons but she thought Kara was the player for AR last night and that the whole KW team played well.
