An entertaining little interlude, about an entertaining little cutie! The IH would like to see that shot-release a little higher, though (Come on, sports fans--you expect the IH to leave a girl's highlight reel UN-CRITIQUED?)...

It's exactly what Chris and I talked about during the YDF, that she probably couldn't get that shot off at the next level. Otherwise, she was as advertised - big, energetic, game beyond her years.

How tall is Taylor Hill? I notice that Shannon Bobitt has a low release point. She shoots the ball from her hip. Even though as short as Shannon is any shot would be a low release point.

There are a lot of wide open shot in womens college basketball. Krista Rapp broke the records for three point shots at Stanford for a season just by hitting open set shots.

Whatever Tayler's advertised height is, she looks to be about 5'10"-5'11" in the video. She seems to change direction well and at the right times in her attacks at the defense--at least, in the open-court--but Shannon (who's about 5'3"-5'4"), and other players like her, have SO much shake and shiftiness WHILE SHE'S COMING AT YOU, that any defender is going to always be off-balance trying to challenge her. Which would allow a Shannon Bobbitt to get her shot off easily, while being relatively closely-guarded.
The IH would like to see Tayler shooting off-the-dribble, while being closely-guarded by someone in her height range...

Brooklyn, I think it's understandable for a shorter player to have a lower release point because they usually do not have the leverage (unless they are extraordinarily strong, ala Dymond Simon). Hill doesn't have that excuse. Plus her game is too dynamic to expect her to be without the ball much - meaning she'll usually have a defender in her face.

It might have a low release point, but that's one SMOOTH stroke.

If she played for you (Glenn, Chris, IH)....what would you do:

Would you attempt to have her elevate the release point?

Leave good-enough along?/Give it time? . . . .and . . . .

Will she maybe work on that as she gains strength/maturity?

As far as the IH is concerned, baby Tayler's release could be corrected in four real workouts. The strategy would be to go from a semi-set shot, to a real jump shot...

I've been a Tayler Hill fan for a minute she has a pretty good aau team Minnesota NC Heat, I know they will be at adidas showtime, so i will have another chance to see her play.

IH,
My daughter's release is head high (top of ball even with top of head) maybe a little higher. I've worked with her on releasing higher coupled with higher elevation but it really throws her shot off. She's not releasing at the peak of the jump and releasing on the way up. I've decided to wait until after the AAU season to try it again.

What are the most effective workouts used to change the release height and get higher elevation on her jump shots.

DEgurlzhoops, the IH wants you to hit him on the BatPhone...

IH,

I would like to know what those four workouts are also. I noticed the low release point on her shot also, but perhaps that is the way she shoots her set shot. I did notice she went into triple threat and make her moves from that position.

If I am reading DE's post correctly, it seems he wants to get his daugther to release her jumper at the apex of her shot; instead of on the way up. My question/comment is if you release the ball on the way up, won't it still give you a proper power chain- while giving the shooter a quicker release on their shot?
