Wow Baylor have 2 verbals one from 2009 Brittney Griner and the other 2010 Odyssey Sims now I have never seen Griner play but at 6'6 you can't teach height but she looks pretty good on youtube with her throwdown dunks.
Now Odyssey Sims I've seen her while back at nationals a couple of years ago when she was only 5'1 and now she is 5'8 and one of the best guards in the 2010 class. I remember telling people to watch out for her. I can't wait to see her on the circuit this July.

The best thing about Griner is that shes a great kid who will do well. Is she a dominant post right now, no. She has a chance to be one of if not the most dominant post players to come from our parts along with KB. The bad thing about her is unless you attend AAU Nationals or the BCI in Texas you will have to settle for the You Tube highlights.

I'm not supposed to say where just yet, but Chris and I will have an opportunity to see Griner in a couple of weeks. We look forward to it.

Well that's great and I am glad someone will be there to give an honest evaluation of the competition that's playing at nationals. Watch out for Lauren Flores, 2009 , who may be the best point in Houston although the system she's in may not show it. The Hotshots have some very good players and I wish the PLAYERS well.

Baylor ain't playing they really are serving notice to UT, Tech and America that the kids in Texas are State property.

I don't understand that quote. UT and Tech are in Texas and S Gilbreath and Christmas got out along with Hernandez, Booze and a host of others. Baylor has the Houston Hotshot connection with 3 from the class of 2005, Player, Morrow and Abbott, who after playing there one year gave it up and Kelli Griffin,2007, who is one of the top points many have never heard of so by obtaining a non binding verbal from a 2009 and 2010 doesn't really mean much especially when you look at the HIGH name players still out there like Ogumike, Pope, Gilbreath, Reed, Green and so on.

Pardon me butting in but, Ogwumike is a dynamite recruit, i still don't see her having the impact on a program the way BG will have on Baylor.

You are entitled to your opinion but I have seen all the kids play in person unlike many folks who are watching youtube.

Then YOU know exactly why i said, what i said. Ogwumike is a great player, maybe the best in her class( i saw her on tv VS Haley Day) BG is the best girl Dunker in the world. Lets keep in mind that Baylor is not a bad team already, the out of towns crowds will come to see this girl, maybe do, what she does better then any other player we've had so far. Not a Baylor lover just being real about it, they got a gimmick that people are gonna be excited to see.

Wouldn't that be great to see them play together! ;)

I for one think they will get Ogwumike and Brookly Pope also.....could cause a meltdown on some boards if it happens.

New developments are knocking down the percentage on that happening.

Can you be a little more specific?

This is going nowhere and if you feel that a HS kid jumping 6 inches off the ground and being able to dunk on breakaways will make her a great COLLEGE post then you are crazy. You saw Nneka on TV, I have been seeing these kids live and in living color for years.

I'm having a hard time translating....

Sim111, are you saying Griner is only potential?. You have seen her, how do you think she will develop since she has two more years of high school.

I assume you have seen Griffin. Seems no one knows anything about her since she was injured...has the knee mended?

txbasketball24....everything I have seen has BU in the top 5 of Ogwumike and Pope. Obviously you know something that has happened that is changing that....UT & GG? or what, give some hint, thanks.

For some reason its become a game on where Nneka will go. If she didn't show up to the Baylor camp, that isn't good for Baylor. It wouldn't surprise me if she went to the ACC. To narrow down which school in the ACC, go back and look at what she wants in a school, e.g. small class sizes and a top rated medical school. Need I say more?

I am saying Griner has the POTENTIAL to be the best big girl to come out of Houston since I have been watching and that's around 7 or 8 years however what amazes me is people see her dunking on youtube and go crazy. Griner has not played against any big name players other than Nneka and she got into very early foul trouble, I think 3 the first 4 minutes. It is hard to get your shot off on her and she has great hands but all this hoopla is crazy, at least to me. The college game will be a bit more difficult, this is why I wish the kid played against better competition in the paint. Kelsey Bone played in the same organization and her mom got her out for more exposure and look at her now, as did the Gilbreaths and on a smaller scale my daughter. You have to play against the best in order to have the notoriety some folks are giving Griner for dunking a basketball. Now if she was dunking on Bone and Nneka, I would be impressed but the kid is tall and long so really what does that mean. Again, she is a great kid with unlimited POTENTIAL but do I think she is one of the top 5 or 10 posts in the country right now, well the answer would be no. Kelli Griffin is legit and I saw that when she was in the 8th grade. Very acrobatic, great midrange, solid defender and college body right now.

Ogwumike is the best player in her class, BG will be known all over the world. she never has to even be a true basketball player. we all know Ogwumike is a stud but we all know BG has way more potential, more then ogwumike or any other player in this class or the 2 behind it. nobody is going crazy, people who know basketball know that, she is far from a finished project, we also know she is not a stiff, she is already on the right path. i think Ogwumike might end up at Baylor with her. Then she will have top competition all day.

The thing that impressed me about BG in the Youtube video was not the dunk...it was how well she could dribble the ball down the court like a smaller forward.

By the way, BU has very small classes and a top notch medical school.and is closer to family...just my opinion.

Thanks for your info

Well since you all are impressed with the dunks, she had a GORILLA DUNK this past weekend and raised her body over the rim. I wasn't there but people were raving about it. We played against her team in the championship however we were outmatched with two starters missing and no players over 6 ft but we still would have had to play an almost perfect game to beat them. Griner looked really good but again she AIN'T playing against anyone close to her size and again, until she does, let's hold the confetti.

Hey Simmie,

Now that DFW Elite has pulled Griner, she will get to play against plenty of girls her size, especially at Nike Nationals!! Wow, can you imagine Pope, Mallard & Griner on the front line with Destini Hughes & Odyssey Sims in the backcourt??? Get the confetti ready!!!!

I'll congratulate Both Players in AUGUST, but now think about what the SENIORS are doing yes sitting on the DFW bench. So we and recruits can see a "good" game. Guys lets not forget the focus.

I'm glad Griner went to DFW because she will go against the best players and get the exposure she needs. Youtube and the Hotshots website isn't enough and if she does well, who knows?
