The Tournament of Champions (TOC) has again loaded the desert with a who' who and what's what litany of teams and players for this years showdown. Of the sixteen teams invited, twelve feature a Hoopgurlz top 100 player with a trifecta of teams with a pair. There are five top 15 teams from last year including Cali's big 3 SACRED HEART, POLY and ST. MARY's, #2,#3 and #8 respectively. LEWIS & CLARK (WA) was ranked #13 and CARDINAL O'HARA was ranked #15. CHRIST THE KING (NY) and BREA (CA) are two perennial juggernauts also invited. SACRED HEART carries a 56 game winning streak into the season after erasing an 11 point ST. MARYS lead in NORCAL DIVIII FINAL.

Seven top 20 players from the 09' class are featured including five of the top eleven rated girls. COKIE REED, MONIQUE OLIVER (USC) and JASMINE HASSELL(TENN) will be spotlighted in the paint. SACRED HEART has two phenoms in TIERRA ROGERS (CAL) and KISHAWNA MOORE the 5'8 point guard. The PHILLY BELLE's STEPHANIE HOLZER (VANDERBILT) is the leader and patrols the paint for CARDINAL O'HARA (PA). Four other top '10 players litter the rosters including AFERI JEMERIGBE and CHELSEA GRAY from ST. MARY's (Stockton CA), Ohio's SAMARIE WALKER and OLIVER'S POLY teammate THADESIA SOUTHALL.

CHELSEA GRAY is one of the top sophomores in the land and I should have done a proof check. But with GRAY, the proof is in the pudding, after being named CALIFORNIA Sophomore of the Year. GRAY who along with JEMRIGBE led the RAMS to a sectional title over PAM MCGEE's SACRAMENTO team before falling to SACRED HEART to finish 33-1. The title game came down to the wire with JEMIRIGBE missing a potential shot at the buzzer amidst the physicality in the lane. GRAY, was a fourth-team PARADE ALL-AMERICAN who grew four inches since her freshman season and averaged 18 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.5 assists while draining 80% of her charity shots. ST. MARY's started four sophomores last year including GRAY and JEMIRIGBE, and also ANNISSA GARCIA and ALLE MORENO.

CHRIST THE KING also features two youngins in 5'10 g BRIA SMITH and 6'2 junior ARIEL EDWARDS. SMITH is one of the nations top recruits for the '11 class and has big game experience. CHRIST THE KING also brings back two senior posts in 6'4 TAYLOR BURNER (STONYBROOK) and 6'1 TAHIRA JOHNSON.
