We need to know:

ESPN HoopGurlz will be producing high-school team rankings and, as we did last year, would like to see as many teams as possible in person.

Great list.

Does anyone have specific dates for any of these? It will be hard to plan to cover them if we don't have dates.

WHITNEY YOUNG - CHICAGO - NOV 27-29

BREEZY BISHOP CLASSIC - BALTIMORE - DEC 12-14

NIKE TOC - ARIZONA - DEC 27-30

MAYORS CLASSIC - @ MORGAN STATE, BALTIMORE - JAN 15-17

MCDONALDS CHICAGOLAND - CHICAGO - JAN 19

BREEZY BISHOP offers up 24 teams including BISHOP FORD (NY) and OAK HILL (VA) and two of the best 5 DC-area MARYLAND schools in HOLY CROSS and ELIZABETH SETON who play in one of the toughest leagues in the country in the WCAC. The CLASSIC features seven of the best nine BALTIMORE-area teams including the city's five best; WESTERN, ST FRANCES, SETON KEOUGH, CITY and DIGITAL HARBOR. NEUMANN GORETTI, the HILL SCHOOL and the MILLER SCHOOL from PENNSYLVANIA will also be competing. BREEZY BISHOP put and kept WESTERN on the map in the eighties and brought home WESTERNS last STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS after winning back-to-back in 94-95'. ST FRANCES has won 7 straight IAAM (private schools) tournament CHAMPIONSHIPS after beating KEOUGH and top '09 recruit AYSA BUSSIE (BOO WILLIAMS) in last years IAAM final.

Tha MAYORS BASKETBALL ACADEMY CLASSIC held at MORGAN STATE provides great basketball and provides the students to gain knowledge and some civic pride with workshops and lessons. The MAYORS last year featured both WESTERN and ST FRANCES as well as DC- area powerhouse and NACA CHAMPION RIVERDALE BAPTIST. ST FRANCES loses four-year starter KANDICE GREEN to SETON HALL but learned how to win without KG last year when she went down for theee weeks. They return six of their top seven with six being juniors this year including 5'4 dynamo SHATIRA (LIL' MAMA) HAWKES and the "ANT HILL" mob. WESTERN returns their top ten players including WEST VIRGINIA-bound AKEEMA RICHARDS and a DOVE team that has made three straight FINAL FOUR appearances without bringing home the gold. RIVERDALE BAPTIST is led by '10 top recruit ATIARA FRANKLIN (VIRGINIA commit) and MARYLAND recruit 6'1 TIARA HAWKINS. All three of these teams could play with many if not any in the region.

West Coast Jamboree -- SF Bay Area, Dec. 27-Dec. 31. Largest tournament in the country (120 teams), with Potter's Christian from Florida and Manhattan Center both coming to play in the Platinum Division with some of California's best.

Energy Classic -- Gillette, WY, after Christmas. Usually four teams, two from outside Wyoming and two top locals (including Campbell County).

Event Preview: Peach State Basketball Battle of the Southeast Session I
By: Brandon Clay
October 31, 2008

The Peach State Basketball Battle of the Southeast is back for its' second year and this year's group is shaping up to be even better than the 2007 lineup that brought out over 25 schools for the one-day high school shootout. The event will feature the Number One ranked player regionally in both the 2011 and 2012 classes not to mention numerous college prospects in all four classes. With so much talent on one floor, the Peach State Basketball Battle of the Southeast will make the Wesleyan School's Yancey Gymnasium the place to be for fans and college coaches alike on December 6. A full event preview is below:

* Class ranking in the Southeastern Hoops Report Regional Rankings in parantheses

12:00 PM
Columbia HS(Decatur, GA) vs Campbell HS(Smyrna, GA)

The game will feature two of metro Atlanta's up and coming programs. Columbia's upward movement is moving along thanks to two juniors in 6'4" C Akila McDonald and 5'6" PG Mecca Frost. Campbell (Randy McClure) is also making a move toward the top of the state with the help of three sophomores in 5'7" PG Chakecia Miller (#7), 5'5" PG Erica Norwood (#18) and 6'1" PF Brittany Hodges (#16).

1:40 PM
Buford HS (Buford, GA) vs Marist School (Atlanta, GA)

This is a rematch of one of last year's matchups. Marist (Kim Hixon) won the game last year. This year, they are in good shape again with 5'6" 2009 PG Dana Middleton and 6'2" 2011 PF Jen Heider (#17). Led by Auburn commit 6'3" 2009 PF Blanche Alverson, the Lady Wolves are the odds-on favorite to win the GHSA Class AA State Championship. Alverson (#10 SEHR) is joined by Valdosta State commit 5'10" 2009 PF Jocelyn Danley (#95) and 5'8" 2012 PG Andraya Carter (#1).

3:20 PM
JL Mann Academy(Greenville, SC) vs Mill Creek HS (Hoschton, GA)

The second half of the day will start with two established, Final Four tested programs going head to head. Recently, JL Mann (Darrah Huffman) has been known for having great guard play and this year is no different. 5'7" 2009 Guard Ashley Holliday (#75), 5'7" 2010 PG Camille Glymph (#18) and 5'6" 2011 PG Britney Holliday (#11) are together for a second year of wreaking havoc on opposing backcourts. Meanwhile, Mill Creek (Ashley Phillips) will feature a more balanced attack with 5'11" 2009 Forward Olivia Towers Solis (#58) and 6'1" 2010 Post Monecia Simmons (#35).

5:00 PM
Butler HS (Charlotte, NC) vs Wesleyan School (Norcross, GA)

The night's feature game is certainly star-studded as the host school, Wesleyan, tries to make a case to be ranked nationally with this bigtime early season contest. Just one problem: Butler is looking for that same distinction. Wesleyan (Jan Azar) will look to two seniors in Georgia commit 6'2" SF Anne Marie Armstrong (#12) and Chantel Kennedy (#50), who is a 5'9" wing with a commitment to Colorado State on the board. In addition, they have a junior sharpshooter in 5'8" SG Erin Hall (#30) who can fill it up. Butler (Stephanie Butler) counters with four Division recruits. The senior backcourt of 5'9" UNC-Charlotte SG Jaquaria Forney (#17) and 5'6" East Carolina commit Celeste Stewart (#26) coupled with the frontcourt play of 6'3" 2010 Post Claire Watkins (#8) and 6'2" 2011 Wing Cierra Burdick (#1).

The BREEZY BISHOP CLASSIC in Baltimore held at the WESTERN/POLY complex December 12-14 is shaping up to be one of the top 5 tournaments in the country with 3 of the FAB RISE top 12 teams competing. ST. MICHAELS ACADEMY (NY) ranked #3, HD WOODSON (DC) ranked #12 and #9 OAK HILL join 6 of the top 10 teams in Baltimore and 2 of the top 10 in DC among the 26 teams participating in this battle royale.

Some of the best talent on the east coast, both player-wise and team-wise, will be featured in this pre-holiday tourney in Charm City. HD WOODSON (themambas #3) has the 6'6 JANIECE JOHNSON (NC STATE) patrolling the paint with one of the most talented backcourts in the country. The country. JOHNSON and the WARRIORS have two other WOLFPACK recruits, BERNISHA PINKETT and CARLEEDA GREEN, along with one of '10 class top guards in RONIKA RANSFORD controlling the perimeter and causing sheer havoc. ST MICHAELS, with SMITH or no SMITH, is maybe the most talented teams in the country. With 6'1 JELLEAH SIDNEY and 6'4 BRITTANY WEBB in the post and BRAY-SHAY ALI, JEN O'NEILL and JASMINE DAVIS on the outside looking in, ST MICHAELS has as many as 8 or 9 D-1 players on the roster. OAK HILL has one of the top 5 frontcourts in the land thanks to the moving vans bringing in Hoopgurlz #30 6'2 ALYSSA BENNETT from HAMPTON and the 6'5 LAKEESA DANIEL from the Carolinas to join '10 top 100 6'5 ARIEL JOHNSON. This team could matchup just about with any ATLANTIC 10 team in the paint. Add 6'5 '10 Hungary transplant ORSI SZECSI and 5'10 '10 guard ALEX ROGERS and you see their is no void of talent in Middle VA despite the vacuum at NOTRE DAME.

HD WOODSON (24-5) had five losses last year including four of them to the likes of NOTRE DAME, ST. JOHN the BAPTIST, POLY and MURRY BERGTRAUM. The WARRIORS defeated CHRIST the KING (NY), ST. MICHAELS (NY), SW DEKALB (GA), MEMPHIS EAST (TN) and WESTERN (MD). OAK HILL (24-5) lost 5 as well with four of them coming against the aforementioned NOTRE DAME (VA), RIVERDALE BAPTIST (MD), WHITNEY YOUNG (ILL) and PROVIDENCE DAY (NC). These WARRIORS beat POTTERS HOUSE CHRISTIAN, avenged PROVIDENCE DAY and finished at the FINAL 4 at the NACA CHAMPIONSHIPS. ST. MICHAELS (28-2) beat SHABAZZ (NJ), HAMPTON (VA) and TRENTON CATHOLIC among their 28 wins. They dropped a big one to ST. JOHN the BAPTIST and look to get over the proverbial hump this year in NY.

Also featured in this bonanza is ST. FRANCES, winner of 7 straight IAAM titles and their league rival SETON KEOUGH that features 6'4 AYSA BUSSIE (BOO WILLIAMS, WEST VIRGINIA). WESTERN has four-year B-more phenom AKEEMA RICHARDS (WEST VIRGINIA) running the show for the Maryland '08 3A class FINAL 4 DOVES. SPALDING, POLY and FALLSTON are all top 10 teams in Baltimore proper. HOLY CROSS and ELIZABETH SETON are both top teams from the IAAM's counterpart to the south in the District, the formidable WCAC, which may is one of the top leagues in the country. It should be a doozy.

A recap. One of the top 5 most talented teams in the country, one of the top 5 frontcourts in the country and one of the top 5 backcourts in the country. Add in five teams from two of the top leagues in the country and one thing is for sure. Nothing will be a breeze at the legendary BREEZY BISHOP CLASSIC in the city with so much charm.
