As the season nears, I took a glimpse into my crystal ball to see what may or may not happen, if that makes any sense. Once again, the teams to beat will be Dulles, Bellaire and Cy Fair. Dulles has one of if not the best player in the nation, Kelsey Bone and an outstanding supporting cast of players which include Jasmine Henderson. Always loaded, yet unable to get over the hump year afer year, Bellaire, will be in a unique position since Cy Fair has moved to Region 2 and this might be the Cards year. With starters Rogers and Davis returning, they have some returnin kids that played key minutes and one of te top incoming freshman in Raven Burns, remember that name. Cy Fair as I said earlier is in another region so when playoffs roll around, it might be an all Houston area final. Ogwumike and Peeples will be the catalyst for the defending 5A champs. What I don't see is a match between the two most highly regarded bigs in the nation, Griner vs Bone and that's too bad. We have some sleeper teams out there, Flores led N Shore and Clinch led Cinco Ranch so who knows come playoffs.

I know it's far away but next year will be a lot of parity.

What was the reason Cy-Fair moved to Region 2?

Dulles I think will be tough to beat. If my memory serves me correct they have nearly their entire team returning and nobody can question Bone's determination. She guaranteed state in her senior year after their loss in regionals last season.

Why is Nimitz not a contender. They lost before the Region 3 final four I came down to last season. Did they graduate several players? I know in Texas one player isn't enough at the 5A level.

For Cinco Ranch, how much of the Gilbreath confidence and swagger has worn off on them. They will miss Bri but I'm thinking there is more talent there than some let on.

I missed Bellaire by a week too.

The UIL realigns schools I believe every 2 or 3 years. A few years ago we would have 2 schools from the Houston area meeting in the final 4 and some folks didn't like that, at least that's what the rumor was. Cy Fair was in R2, as was Westfield led by Texas A&M All American Takia Starks, I believe Westfield went to state 3 or 4 times over a 7 or 8 year period and that was supposed to be one of the reasons.
