If I'm not mistaken , he was at the National Cathedral school and has ties to FFS

I am not sure what you meant by the vanilla crack, but Marissa Brock is Black. He is a solid coach who gets a lot out of teams. With the talent that flows through SJC, he should do fine.

Go to www.hoopeducation.com. It has a brief bio of Coach Scribner, who has indeed been at National Cathedral. He has intermittently assisted Mickey Freece with the Stars 12 year old team. Nice guy, works well with the players. I've never seen him coach in an actual game, though, so can't comment there.

As with most programs, if the parents and administration leave him alone, Scribner will be a very good coach at St. John's, based on his NCS work.
Of course, the key questions are: a) if there are any talented Fairfax Stars girls in the pipeline, will they still go to SJC; b) will non-Fairfax Stars talents want to go to SJC now, or will they wait to see if current scenarios carry over; and c) what connections outside the community does Scribner have to bring in players?

I KNOW SHE'S BLACK!...IT WAS AN INSIDE JOKE 4 ANOTHER COACH..NOT MEANT 4 U! I WOULD NOT THROW IN A RACIAL COMMENT ON THIS BOARD!...IT WAS IN REFERENCE TO HER STYLE OF PLAY!..IT DIFFERENT FROM BMAC & PG COUNTY BALL!

I got it. Calm down! Another coach explained it to me at BMAC on Saturday. I apologize for offending you but I did mean to imply that you were making a racial comment. In fact I stated that I was not sure what you meant.

Jon will do well at SJC. It may take him a year or two to get fully adjusted but once that happens his teams will be extremely competitive. I've played with him, against him, and I've seen him coach. He did a great job a NCS considering what he had to work with. This is a coach that definitely understands the game and can teach the game. For those of you who like to disect comments let me say that none of my comments are based on our friendship, solely on what I know about him as a person, player and coach. I have the upmost respect for Coach Scribner.

Good Luck Coach Scribner. He has some large expectations to live up. A school with that kind of winning tradition and basketball excellence is expecting him to produce sooner rather than later. I hope they give him time.

What is the coach Byrant doing now? Will he stay on as an assist?
