One of the kids in our program wrote this. It shows what the game should be about and several of her statements stood out but the one that stood out more than the others was "Believe in yourself, believe in the team" Oh yeah, all of this from a 7th grader!
Mission Statement

Basketball, for me it’s not just a game. It’s something that takes blood, sweat and determination! It separates the weak from the strong and the women from the little girls! You may be good, but for us it’s never easy! As soon as your feet touch that court it’s game on. All smiles and jokes to the side. It doesn’t matter if you’re winning or losing you get out there and play your hardest, you get mean, you get tough! Be aggressive. Whether you’re a point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward or center, every position is important. You just have to remember to do your best! Play as a team and be a good sport. And you have to always want it and if you don’t have it, get it, and if you gave it to the other team, get it back! Believe in yourself, believe in the team. Don’t be afraid to shoot that 3 pointer! Drive in for that lay-up, don’t stop, and let them foul you.
Remember that you have skills, take it to them! But whatever you do get back on defense! Let them know that this is your house! Play with all of the confidence in the world, and when the team wins congratulate yourselves, because we did it!!!!
