I think the most important thing is for the kid to be happy. You never know how things are going to work out when coaches recruit your kid. You probably spend less than 40 hours total, not even a full work week, with people who are going to help mold your kids so many times it's the school with the biggest name or where they make you feel most wanted. Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't but all of it's a learning experience.
This young lady wrote an outstanding article http://hoopgurlz.com/node/4346 on why she decided to leave. I never really wanted my daughter to go far away because i know how things really are and i know this is a business. A friend was over the house and saw a letter from a big name east coast school and said I should send my daughter there. I told him the letter meant nothing, it was a form letter sent out to 100s of kids. I also told him my kid was going close to home because if she didn't like it, I would rather her be 80 miles away that 1800 or 2800 miles away. Anyway, I wish Miss Gray well in the future.
