Led by Brittney Griner, the DFW program is so flush with talent this year, it took first and fifth at Boo Williams' Battle of the Best:

Glad u hung around Glenn & Clay.
Just some other points ....NJ University's long lean guard Mincy was shining like a bright star on a team full of studs. Every time I watched BSE I would try to focus on Kelsey but Mincy would steal the show. Kelsey looked much healthier and even a little lighter than she did in July, but I wonder will she remain #1 with Griner playing so brilliantly!?
Speaking of Griner, I thought it was hilarious to hear the whole crowd ooh & ah everythime she touched the ball or scream at her teammates to "give it to her" (me included) everytime down. At one point she had a smooth putback but everyone still had a collective "ahhhh" even though she made the shot because they wanted her to throw it down!
Griner isn't the only stud on that team, they have GREAT guard play!
Good showing by DFW as a whole!

Cy-Fair Shock, another Texas team, placed 8th with only eight players. They lost to Boo Williams by 3 and by 2 to the Tennessee Flight in double overtime. The Tennessee Flight beat the DFW Elite's second team by over 20 points for 5th place. If the ball bounced in Cy-Fair's favor in a couple of occasions, they could of very well met DFW Elite in the championship game.
DFW Elite's T-Jack team can beat a lot of college teams and is by far the best club team in the country after seeing them this weekend. Congratulations!!!!!

The DFW organization has a lot of talent. There were three teams from that organizationthat competed in the 16U division. All of the teams had good showings.

Just wondering, how did the other DFW players look: Cokie Reed, Nikki Green, Lauren Flores, Tierra Rogers?

CORRECTION
Note: DFW's second team with Cokie Reed and Nikki Green didn't win the 5th place game as the story initially reported. They lost to the Tennessee Flight in that 5th place game.

Chris,
I was too scared to tell you and Glenn that. A while back I thought there was a couple of corrections on Nneka's story so I sent Glenn an email. Well, I was wrong not once but twice.

TX Basketball?
How did Lauren Avant, Lauren Mincy and Trish Liston look this weekend at Boo?

All three are very good players. Avant gave our guards a lot of trouble. I'm pretty sure it was Avant who made two critical 3's to put the game into overtime. Cy-Fair had the game won but kept leaving wide open 3's because of blown defensive assignments. Tennessee Flight is a very good team and would like to play them again when our roster is finally complete.

Txbasketball24 – with all do respect: seems like your information is a little incorrect this time as well. I don’t know about Mincy and Liston and what kind of weekend they had but Avant did not play with the Tn Flight. I believe the extremely talented Avant is playing with her age group this year and dominating as usual.
The TN Flight guards were Courtney Jones, Kayla Christopher and Jasmine James and the other little guard was Valencia (don’t know her last name). James was the guard that hit 2 3-pointers at the end of regulation and 5 more 3-pointers in the double overtime against CY-Fair. The TN Flight should be extremely competitive. They defeated the second DFW team for 5th place by 25 or 30…… There is another Jasmine (Jasmine Hassell) for the TN Flight who plays in the post and she played extremely well all weekend as well.
Both DFW teams are "extremely" talented and can beat anybody on any given day! Can you imagine if they both were combined??? That would be scary

The Tenn Flight will definitely be tough this summer. Jasmine "JJ" James is incredible. She is one of the best gaurds in the country. I believe she had games of 30 and 40pts. Who ever gets her in college will be happy. JJ made the all tournament team

I stand corrected. I was misinformed on who Lauren was, my apologies.
