Dear Diary,
We are playing in Olympia this weekend and man did we have a tough game this morning! I pride myself on being the strongest defensive player on my team but today my skills were pushed to the edge. I don’t know what that players name is but I won’t forget her number…#21 (ECBA). I never saw a guard with so many amazing moves and speed, and we have some of the best guards in the state on YEA. Right away I knew we were in for trouble after just three times down the court. #21, with her blond pony tail flying in the wind she created with her speed and sideways moves came to beat us. Standing in the middle of the key readying myself defensively for the ball to come from any direction I could see her eyes fixed on the basket from the moment she got the inbound pass on the other end. There is something a little scary about seeing a player with that much determination in their eyes. You tell yourself this intensity can’t last very long, we will gain the upper hand as time goes on. Not so with #21. She never let up. She was a constant threat, even when she didn’t have the ball. Because you knew she was going to get it back and she would be the one who would burn you. Frustrated, challenged, taken to school. That’s how I feel. And I know I am a better player for playing her. #21 is a Baller! We will meet again…
Diary entries are suppose to be private, but I want to share this with Carly’s family and friends. I am very sorry for your loss. There is nothing that can be said to lessen your pain. My parents have always taught my sister and I that the people in our lives are gifts from God and that there is no ending, only separation until we meet again in Heaven. I pray you find strength from your temporary separation from Carly in God’s word. God Bless your family.
