Their are a lot of good teams in the DMV with some very good players but not many champions. We have some really outstanding players in the DMV that have had some really outstanding games but no championships.
Who would you consider a better player; a good player that has won championships or a good player that has played some great games.

You're not fooling the IH, Rodder08; that's a trick question!
The criteria are too generic; you're not asking anything...

That is not a cut and dry scenario. I'd rather have the good player with the champion's mentality, heart, and spirit. That player, you can count on when things are good and not so good. You have guys who were winners in winning situations and problem children in losing situations (Rodman). You have guys who have never won a ring (Ewing, Malone, Stockton) but established a level of play and competition for their teams for a long period of time. I've always thought using the number of rings to determine who is a better player has always been an intellectually lazy argument anyway. There are too many things that feed into winning a championship to make that comparison.

Whatever do you mean IH........ The question is who would you rather have on your team? Both players being considered good players. (Scottie Pipen or Charles Barkley - Alana Beard or Sue Bird) Who makes your team?

rodder I feel trp is the best player in the region regardless of championships and one could make an argument that the top 5 players in each class have not won state championships. I feel that many of the top players will not be the top players at the next level. I would pick the player that best suits my needs because my ultimate goal is to win, sometimes a winning mentality can be contagious.

In your case Rodder you want the champion because you are trying to win championships, but if you are IH you want the player, because he's not trying to win championships he is just trying to display talent

Nice point DA but I'd rather have the player who has been through a war and been victorious than the one who can play but has always been the bridesmaid. .

See posting under "montgomery county's best kept secret". I'd want someone who has been through the "wringer". Challenges build a better person.

I maybe mistaken, but Michael Jordan never won a high school championship, won only one NCAA championship, and yet blew away the his generation of peers in the NBA.
Deanna Nolan never won the NCAA, and wasn't even the featured player, but look at her in the WNBA.
I agree with the poster who says if they have a championship mentality, they will win impact the game significantly regardless if they ever win a ring or not.

Let me restate my question; Which player would you choose; A good player or a good player who has won a championship? It sounds like some people are catching personal feelings and coming up with examples that have nothing to do with the question.

I would rather have a player with the championship experience under there belts.
These are players that have the experience to be able to handle the presure that is involved in a high presured game. There is nothing like winning championships, this is what drives real players to another level of play. It is a motivational factor coming in to each season to succeed to this level of winning championships every year.
