The word spread like wildfire that TRP was injured this past weekend. Is there any word on her status for the remainder of the run?
quimica2

Word is that Robinson beat TC 58-45, so I'm guessing she didn't play, or at least wasn't at full strength...that's just a horrible break for TC if true. Now I am wishing I went to that game...
The game I did go to, Woodson vs. Mount Vernon, was good for a half but Woodson dominated the second and won 66-48. MV had no answer for Schoof, who scored 25 and probably had 10-15 rebounds.

The coach had a Fever on the brain last night
a sudden yet deadly Indiana strain.
There is no way they should've lost last night with the line up they have.
TC beats Annandale and holds off West Springfield -Without TRP
then falls at 1 and done time to a team that most teams in the Patriot would've beat. It doesn't add up. Last year this time TRP was hurt and they beat better teams. I still don't understand why some want to disrespect TC as a 1 player team.
DMV, say what you will - this was our state contender.
I'm speechless
almost. Edison way over Lee tonight. Lee has spent too much time running from this here matchup & the Edison superfan doesn't need a drum to make that case.

Not sure where you got that info. Everyone knows a trip to states had to go through Edison. People always talk about strength of schedule, but aside from Riverdale and TC, Edison hasn't exactly been playing tough competition. Their district is pretty weak. Lee will definitely have to bring their A+ game to win tonight but don't count teams out so quickly. Just ask TC and Oakton.

I don't think there's one place that has all the info...I've got the pairings in the first post and will post the results but gathering all the dates, times, and sites is a little much.
In theory the VHSL website posts the brackets and results here:
http://www.vhsl.org/Basketball/Results.htm
but unlike every other state association in the country they're incapable of actually updating their website with useful information.

Lee 73 Edison 63...Mial and Moseh with about 25 each, Babineaux with about 15. Not sure of the Edison scoring. Edison got off to a fast start, led 17-10 after the first quarter, Lee rallied in the second to go up 32-25 at halftime. Crawford, Clayton, and Goodwin all had three fouls in the first half. Edison pulled back ahead 41-38, but Lee went on a 7-0 run to take a lead that they didn't relinquish, opening up a double digit lead early in the fourth as Goodwin fouled out. Edison maybe should have started pressing earlier but tough with the foul trouble. Raucous crowd, smart move preventing the Lee fans from rushing the court at the end of the game.
Apparently Potomac beat Stonewall Jackson 60-59...that's two of the three undefeated teams eliminated in their first regional game.

I still can't beleive TC lost. I mean the coach should have been teaching them girls how to play without TRP when they were blowing out teams in the beginning of the season. I thought forsure that Edison and TC would represnt down states but now Lee will have to take over.!!!!!!
Veteran Coach Jim Lewis Named As Fever Assistant Coach
02/22/08 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) Indiana Fever
• Discuss this story on the Women's National Basketball Association message board...
INDIANAPOLIS - A former head coach and assistant coach in the Women's National Basketball Association, and a 37-year coaching veteran overall, Jim Lewis has been named an assistant coach with the Indiana Fever. Lewis' hiring completes the staff of Indiana's first-year coach Lin Dunn.
Currently the head girls' basketball coach at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Va., where he will continue coaching during the winter months, Lewis leads one of the top prep teams in the nation. Including international competition with USA Basketball, he has enjoyed success at every level of basketball. He was the head women's coach at Fordham University for six seasons (2001-06), and at George Mason University for 14 (1984-98). He began his career as an assistant coach with men's programs at Tennessee State, Gannon College, Duke and Tulane.
"I am very impressed with Jim's experience in the women's game," said Dunn, "not only in the WNBA but in USA Basketball, as well. He will be a great asset to our individual player development, especially with our posts. Add to that his wonderful positive attitude, and you have a winner!"
Prior to guiding the T.C. Williams program in his hometown, Lewis spent a part of the 2006 summer as an assistant coach with the Minnesota Lynx, after retiring from Fordham in March. Counting his six years with the Rams and 14 at George Mason, Lewis notched a 257-295 record in 20 years as a collegiate head coach.
Prior to coaching at Fordham, Lewis served as the first head coach of the WNBA Washington Mystics, in 1997 and 1998. Prior to his stretch with the Mystics, he compiled a 201-177 record over 14 seasons as the winningest head coach, men's or women's, in George Mason history. At George Mason, Lewis led the Patriots to eight winning seasons, including an appearance in the 1997 Preseason WNIT.
Lewis began his coaching career as a graduate assistant men's basketball coach at Tennessee State (1969-70), which finished as the NCAA Division II runner-up. He then served as an assistant men's coach at Gannon College (1970-71), and moved on to Duke (1972-76) where he served for five years in the same capacity. He was the assistant men's coach at Tulane (1977-81) for five years before becoming the head boys' basketball coach at South Lakes High School (Fairfax, Va.), where his teams compiled a 59-15 record over three years and advanced each year in postseason play.
In 1984, Lewis became the first Division I head women's basketball coach at George Mason University, where he remained until 1997 to become the first coach of the Mystics. During his tenure with the Patriots, he helped USA Basketball to four medals while assisting on coaching staffs at the 1994 Jones Cup (gold), 1995 World University Games (silver), 1997 Junior World Championships (gold) and 1997 USA International Invitational (gold).
One of the USA players on the '97 FIBA Junior World Championships team was current Fever star Tamika Catchings.
Before his coaching career, Lewis was a four-year basketball letterwinner at West Virginia University, competing in two NCAA Tournaments and one NIT, and earning his degree in journalism. During the 2004-05 season, his 1964-65 freshman class was honored at West Virginia for breaking the color barrier at the university. Following graduation, he began his graduate work at the University of Detroit and went on to earn his master's degree in physical education at Tennessee State.
Led by WNBA All-Stars Catchings, Katie Douglas and Tammy Sutton-Brown, the Indiana Fever begins its ninth WNBA season by hosting the Washington Mystics on Saturday, May 17 (7:00 p.m.). Indiana bids for its first WNBA Finals appearance this summer, after reaching the Eastern Conference Finals in two of the past three seasons. Season tickets are available at FeverBasketball.com, or by calling (317) 917-2500.

Tomorrow night at the Patriot Center, with State Tournament berths on the line:
6:00 Lee vs. Madison
8:00 Yorktown vs. WT Woodson
First game should be a barnburner...Lee coming off the big win against Edison while Madison has won 26 straight. I'll take Lee by 5.
Second game is the battle of the surprise teams...it would be pretty amazing if Yorktown made state while Edison didn't. However, Woodson wins this one by 12.
Winner of the first game should be a heavy favorite in Saturday's final.

Lee 53 Madison 49
Lee: Mial 10-21 5-10 25, Babineaux 6-18 0-3 12, Williams 2-8 2-4 7, Hopkins 0-7 4-4 4, Gropp 1-1 2-2 4, Moseh 0-3 1-2 1, Bayoumi 0-3 0-0 0, Kaze 0-1 0-0 0. Total 19-63 14-25 53
Madison: Wimmer 8-15 2-3 18, Jay 7-12 3-4 17, Stiegler 2-9 2-2 7, Suprise 2-7 0-0 4, Kavanagh 1-4 0-0 2, Landry 0-4 1-3 1, Ceglie 0-1 0-0 0, Soffer 0-1 0-0 0. Total 20-53 8-12 49.
Very tight game, Madison went ahead by a couple baskets in each quarter and Lee rallied every time. Madison was up 47-44 midway through the fourth, but they started turning the ball over and Lee went on a 9-0 run before Madison scored in the final seconds. Lee didn't play that well, but I guess it's a good sign that they beat a very solid team while getting almost nothing from Hopkins (who did hit some key free throws late) and Moseh, and not a great game from Babineaux either. Hopkins limped off the court in the fourth quarter, came back to play the final minutes, but then looked as though she was being helped to the locker room after the game.
Mial also had 13 rebounds, she has stepped up bigtime in the postseason.

Lee over WT Woodson 66-40...game was over by the middle of the second quarter and the Lee students were chanting "where's our trophy?" by the third. Mial scored 22 and was named tournament MVP, Babineaux for the third straight game had a rough first half and a strong second half to finish with 16, and Gropp found her shot and hit four threes.
Woodson turned the ball over a bunch against Lee's aggressive defense. They didn't look ready to play a team of that caliber, hopefully they make a better showing next weekend.
Also a shout for George Mason of Falls Church, one of the few Class A schools in the area...they came from the seventh seed to win the Region B Division 2 championship over Wilson Memorial today. The Mustangs will host Middlesex in a state quarterfinal somewhere in Northern Virginia next week.
