I attended the game and it went as advertised. Snohomish held the lead 98% of the time and was tied 41 - 41 with 32 seconds left to play. Lake Stevens Mary Ochiltree stole the ball with 7 seconds to play as Snohomish tried to run the clock down for a shot to win. Up the floor and Ochiltree got the ball back on the right side several feet behind the three line. She was fouled (no call) she struggled to control the ball and threw and I mean threw the ball at the basket, nothing but net. Lake wins by three (44-41) the buzzer sounds as the shot is in the air. Snohomish had two fouls to give, nothing.
Bad news was Brittany Tri took a tumble in the fourth quarter and lay motionless on the floor for several minutes. When they stood her up she was wobbly and could hardly stand up. They took her out of the Gym and no word on her status after the game. Lets hope she is ok. Great Game though. Glad I went.
Tri: The Herald reported she was hit in the eye and had a big shiner. So I guess she is ok.

You are right. Kennedy's coach should take some class lessons from Barrett of Riverside. In all of Riversides league games Barrett held the team back from going over 100 points. He sent post players to the point, took the time to run new plays, played second string players longer...you name it, he did it. Kennedy gets the ribbon for being the biggest bully in Washington Girls High School Basketball. Not something to be proud of.

Excuse me, 112-16 was the final score. Not much difference.
But 34-7 in the 4th quarter? Come on!
Idk about AB at AR though...I saw this score coming having seen Sumner play this year. But 91-21 is right up there...70 point victory. Just because you've got your post at the point doesn't necc mean your holding back. I've seen girls teams in this state take continuous shot clock violations on purpose because the score was looking much like this. Yeah, you don't wanna kill your players instinct, but you don't need to embarrass teams with scores like these.

FWIW, AR beat Franklin Pierce earlier this season, 93-21.
I'll jump in on defending Barrett and AR though. I didn't see the game myself (was "enjoying" Puyallup beating Bethel instead), but I know that he told girls to not take the wide open layups they had in front of them. They sat on the ball. He called off his players. The Sumner AD actually came up to him after the game and thanked him for being a class act. (I don't always agree with everything Barrett does, contrary to what some think, but I will defend him for certain things and one of them is the issue of running up scores.)
Compare AR to Kennedy....Riverside was up 64-9 at the half and then he called off his girls (they scored just 11 and 16 in the final two quarters). Kennedy was up 51-6 at halftime and then scored 27 and 34 in the final two.
Personally, I don't think it's fair to the girls to call off a team before halftime. But coming out harder in the second half?
Sumner (21), Franklin Pierce (21) and Enumclaw (28) are the only teams who haven't scored at least 48 points against Auburn Riverside. Not once did AR break 100 (I saw the FP game. They could have. Easily. The staff at FP were taking bets that they would.). The closest they came is 96-51 with Bonney Lake (note the 51).
Kennedy (112-16 tonight) also had an 84-6 win earlier this season.

I wouldn't have minded seeing that Puyallup/Bethel game myself.
But as far as AR. Didn't say they ran up the score. I knew after watching Sumner that it would be ugly. Somehow I don't think Kennedy was doing the things you say AR was doing.
Mt T I believe has broken 100 this year and I'm all but positive they did it last year. I believe it was against North Kitsap or something like that. But I don't remember the score being this widespread

Mount Tahoma 107, Stadium 30. No one notices the Narrows League anymore (myself included).
Lakes hit 99 in a game earlier this season (99-45 over Timberline).
I don't think Kennedy was, either, although I don't know that coach so I don't have an official comment. :) I felt the need to defend AR though because I figured that was the next jump in the conversation.
As for Puyallup-Bethel, despite nearly a dozen turnovers in the first half, Bethel had a seven-point lead for much of it and took a four-point lead into halftime. They jumped it back out to seven quickly, then were held scoreless for nearly seven minutes as Puyallup went on a 17-0 run. They never got closer than eight or nine.
I've seen some great basketball already this winter, so this game didn't impress me much. Not a single player from Bethel stood out to me, and, in the first half, I could say the same about Puyallup. A different team came out in that third quarter though and it helped Puyallup's star play better when her teammates were up to the challenge.

Since it seems none of us were there, I wanted to share something from another site..
A poster on the Seattle Times' prep sports blog who claims to have been at the Kennedy game says that Kennedy pressed for most of the fourth quarter.
Now maybe it was their JV that pressed (I have no clue), but really? Pressing when up by 70-plus? Oy vey.

While teams do reach 100 pts on occasion and wins do top the 60+ range, old times around here will remember the Foster teams of the 1980's (and I believe early '90's) that routinely topped 100 and had a couple of games in which they won by 100+.
I don't have the time right now but I do have state programs that probably have Foster season scores that can back that up.
So - while AR is in the 90's often and Kennedy hit 112; overall I would say that the running up scores happens less these days than they used to.

Story found here (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/highschoolsports/2004119086_blowouts11.html)
Kennedy High School's 112-16 thrashing of Evergreen in a girls basketball game Tuesday has resulted in a reprimand from the Seamount League commissioner and apologies from the first-year JFK coach.
"That won't ever happen again," said Kennedy coach Tom Mummert.
The coach said the score "ballooned out of control and it was something I probably should have stopped. ... Nothing was done intentionally.
"If anyone is going to take the blame, it's me because I'm the head coach," said Mummert, a Kennedy assistant for 11 years before being promoted this season.
Mummert said his starters and key substitutes played longer than they usually would have in a mismatch because he wanted to sharpen them for a big game tonight against Mount Rainier.
It had been 11 days since Kennedy's previous game.
