The Redmond Mustangs won their seventh straight game tonight defeating the Australian NITCP Blues 66 to 55. The Mustangs led for the majority of the game but failed to put away the scrappy run and gun Australian squad. Redmond led by 10 at halftime. In the second stanza the Blues narrowed the lead a couple of times down to three points, but got no closer.
Junior wing Courtney Martin led all scorers with a career high 30 points, she also had 13 rebounds. Senior guard Mary Petrie continued her season long strong play with 14 points, 7 assists and 4 steals. Sophomore post Marissa Pratt had 7 points and 3 blocked shots despite playing limited minutes due to foul trouble.
NITCP played a very entertaining style of basketball. They pushed the ball hard up court on almost every possession with multiple players slashing fearlessly to the basket. They were led by Simmons and Smith with ten points each.
Redmond goes to 9-2 on the season.

Wish I could have seen this one. Apparently the Bellevue coach installed a brand new offense so that Issaquah's previous scouting didn't matter. It worked. Also, first time that the 2008 girls beat Issy.
But is Bellevue *that* good, or is Issaquah just not at the expectations people handed them? Yes, they beat Kentwood, but I think KW is a roller coaster of youth this season. In the first nine wins, Issaquah has just one in single digits (by three vs. newport).
Bellevue's losses? By 10 to Redmond, by 17 to Lake City (Idaho) and by five to Newport.
Perhaps luck was in play tonight.

According to the Seattle Times web site, last 2 games they've scored in the 90's, Jones hit 6 three balls on the way to 30 last night. Jackson is probably their best opponent besides Snohomish this year....weak league.

I don't necessarily classify them as one of the top teams in the state, but Lake Stevens is either very lucky or very good at gutting out wins (or a bit of both). They impressed me more than Snohomish did at the end of December.
Of course, Snoho and LS are in the other WesCo division from Jackson (6-0 league) and Meadowdale (5-1 league), so they won't see each other until playoffs. (Other than the four-point win M got over Snoho Dec. 5).

Meadowdale won't see any of the 3 in districts and LS is one to watch, this is their year!

That's right. I always forget which of those are 4A vs. 3A. Dang combined leagues....
