I know I've expressed my feelings about AR here, but I'm curious how people think they'll fare in Phoenix? Can they really compete with the top teams in the nation and make the 206 proud? I think their lack of size may hurt them.

Technically, they're reppin' the 253, but ... small things.

My guesstimate is 2-2, but it partly depends on which teams they end up facing. The only thing I can't see them pulling off is 4-0.

2-2 at the TOC is something to be proud of so you folks here know. You can't control the matchups and there are no gimmee games. I think if you asked both AR and Shelbyville they both would have rather gone last year when AR had more size and Shelbyville was more experienced/deep.

my guess! AR's post position is not strong. All teams there have good guards....we shall see.

Congratulations to the Auburn Riverside ladies and Coach Barrett for representing Washington State so well in the Nike TOC. A hard fought battle against Shelbyville Tenn on wednesday resulting in a 57-50 win and setting them up to play the number 1 ranked team in the nation, Nortre Dame Academy today at 1:40pm. As of today at 3pm, Riverside lost by 10. A hard battle but one they feel they could have won. Players who's shots normally fall easily watched in pain as they sat on the rim. Frustrating. Amazing when they count all the ones that should have gone in and what the score would have been. Well fought ladies, you showed the nation what type of talent rests here in our little piece of the world. Good Luck in your game tomorrow as you strive to capture 5th place. Stay strong, play as a team, have fun!

I talked to the NDA coach today and he had nothing but great things to say about AR. He felt that the only teams they may not be able to beat were his team and Poly although they pushed them to the limits. And on any given day anyone can beat any other team at this level. They are competing well and have a great match-up on Friday with Sequoyah.

they planned to travel with the varsity and pick up some games against other Phoenix area JV teams

then someone in the TOC cancelled and the JV squad replaced them.

Wednesday they lost to Bellarmine Jefferson (Burbank, CA) 74-43 but on Thursday they defeated Bell Gardens (Bell Gardens, CA) 68-50.

Friday they play Mullen (Denver) with a chance at placing 9th in the Gray Division

skiverdu, good call.

Actually, both Auburn Riverside and the Ravens' JV squad went 1-3 in the tournament.

Riverside finished eighth, but didn't get shot out of the tournament at any point. The three losses:

Notre Dame Academy by 10
Sequoyah by 9
Bishop Gorman by 1

Sequoyah did the best job exposing the Ravens' biggest weakness: speed. The "lil' country team from Oklahoma" ran circles around Auburn Riverside.

Good learning losses for Auburn Riverside, who (I believe) did better than any other Washington team would have fared. (I'm sure some disagree, but that's my thoughts from the games I've seen in Washington/Oregon this season and the TOC).
