I had a chance to go out and look at some middle school girls over the past couple of weeks and from what I see, it will be the guards taking over games like it was when when Starks, Mangum, Colson and Griffin were playing and how Carter and Flores are playing now. To see 7th and 8th graders pulling up and taking jumpers like the BOYS was great. I have also heard about 6th graders who are just unbelievable and I can't wait to see them.

Those kids can play. I had seen the kid from Lincoln before and last night I saw the kid from Rice MS, the answer is YES. Keep in mind the fact that they are playing against kids who are 1 and 2 years ahead of them really impressed me and it brought back old memories.

Are there any "eligibility" issues with these girls playing up? My daughter is in 5th grade and regularly practices with one of the local 8th grade teams. I was considering having her try and play MS ball next year but I wasn't sure if there were any limitations in Texas regarding this.

If she goes to a private school then it will totally depend on the coach, but if she goes to a public school then there will be some issues due to UIL rule. In public school if not enough shows up in tryouts to participate then it's possible. The kids @ Lincoln & Rice's been ready since they were in 4th grade, but the opportunity was not there. I've seen both of these kids from when they were just 8 years old trying out for the Hotshots and followed them till now.

They were there to tryout, but the Rice kid parents I guess decided not to play their kid with the Hotshots and the Lincoln girl only lasted for a year I think then left. I can tell you now that the Rice kid will never wear a Hotshot uniform and that's been confirmed a long time ago. They did try to recruit her a few times though, but No Can Do.

The Hotshots have been one of the top clubs in Houston since I got into this 8 years ago. One of their ex coaches, Tony Rodriguez, has an eye for talent second to no one and it's a shame he isn't recruiting for someones college program.
