I'm new to the posting here, but have been reading some threads for a while. Haven't been on much over the last several months though, so I am wondering has anyone heard the latest from Stephens?? I hear that South Carolina is up near the top of her list and may land her. It would be a huge pick-up to go along with Beecher and Dalrymple. We only have 5 Forwards and Centers on this year's team. One of them is 5'10 CJ Pace, who will never make it as a post player in the SEC. Plus her game is mostly on the perimeter. 2 of them will be graduating this year, leaving us with only 2 returning players that are over 6'0. That's why we really need all the post help we can get.
Anyways, I'll quit running my mouth and see if anyone has more recent news than the news I heard about 3 weeks ago.

Kids change their minds all the time and I take anything I hear regarding college interest with a large grain of salt; that being said, the last buzz I heard was that she was leaning to Auburn.

I have heard some rumors myself... but, until she makes the announcement we will never know.
As for South Carolina, without Charenee, they wil have 6'4" Demetress Adams, 6'1" Taylor Dalrymple, 6'1" Jewel May, 6'1" Jasmine Payne next season... that would be four players topping the six foot mark- Charenee could make five. I hear that they are actively recruiting some BIG JUCO players as well.

You are VERY correct about kids changing their minds. As fans, we have to realize that these are 17 and 18 year old kids and most are making their first major decision in their life. They're receiving hundreds of letters from different colleges every day, receiving numerous text messages, and getting all these visits from coaches. It's a very tough decision. We currently have one girl that signed this past season that changed her mind just about every week, but every time she called back a few days later and said she wanted to come to USC.
As fans, we just have to sit and be patient. Never give up on a recruit until they sign their name on the dotted line.

Beecher committed to Liberty University.
That's what we heard 2 months ago, but here she's still listed as committed to USC, which is why I had her in the thread. I guess we'll find out for sure next month.

USC dropped Beecher so she had to look elsewhere. Beecher will sign her letter of intent with Liberty.

Congrats to SC landing Stephens. Would you say this is Walvius' highest profile recruit? South Carolina, to me, has always been a team that with a couple of bounces their way become a solid SEC contender.

I wouldnt say it is their top recruit in the past 8 years or so, but, she is a good one for them for sure.

I'd have to agree that this isn't her top recruit. Some could argue that Jordan Jones may have been a bigger pick-up last year than Stephens. Most of that would be due to the fact that USC has had NO consistent 3-point threats in the past 4 or 5 years. Landing big time classes has not been much of a problem for Coach Walvius. Ever since last year's Senior class that was rated 10th in the country coming in, we have been consistently in the top 15-20 every year in recruiting. Problem is, that's still only been 4th-5th best in the SEC and we aren't quite maximizing their abilities when they get on campus. Walvius' biggest knock has been her development of the players. With our past 4 or 5 recruiting classes, there's no reason we shouldn't have been a top 20 team every year.
