I am sitting here staring at a blank screen trying to type something that might illustrate what Carly meant to me and ECBA. And no matter what I type, it won't do her justice.

I remember seeing Carly for the first time. I just started at EC and Carly (pink and blue ribbons in her hair) was a 6th grader in a Basketball 101 class. I thought, "good kid, but not much of a player." Then over the course of the next three years, she put herself in the gym 3-5 times a week for 2-3 hours at a time and willed herself into the player we all knew. Any time someone tells me their working hard, I ask them them if they are working as hard as Carly. Inevitablty they say no.

I got to know Carly through all those hours in the gym. But looking back, I can't remember one training session. I do remember her always greeting me with not a hello but a grade of my color cooridination and quality of shoes. I remember the popcorn and snacks she brings to workouts that I steal. I remember the "dis-wars" that I always lost to her. I remember the the kid in the so bad it's good "White-T" video. I remember the kid who if a team was short players was always ready to fill in. I remember the kid who, with all the talent, was worried constantly that her teammates might think her a ball hog.

I remember Carly as so much more than a basketball player. She was a quirky, one of a kind kid that I will never forget and am proud to have called my friend.

My condolences and prayers are with Chuck, Elena, Eason and Carson.

Murda, you will be sorely missed.
